Karen Gillan’s forgotten rom-com is now streaming for free

Karen Gillan’s forgotten rom-com Marriage Material has become available to stream for free.

The 2018 film, featuring Jennifer Morrison from “Once Upon a Time” and Patrick Fugit of “Love & Death,” tells the story of a man receiving a list of personal changes from his girlfriend, aimed at transforming him into the perfect partner for their relationship.

While reluctant, he decides to follow the list when the threat of a competitor looms.

The movie, which goes by the name “Alex & the List,” became available for streaming on Prime Video yesterday. Viewers can watch it at no cost, but with advertisements.

The movie is directed by Harris Goldberg, who also collaborated with Kristen D’Alessio on the script. Julie Gonzalo from Veronica Mars, Eddie Kaye Thomas from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and JoBeth Williams from Dexter are among the cast members.

Gillan, who’s famously known for her roles, is recognized for portraying Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Ruby in the Jumanji series. However, it was her character as companion Amy Pond during the Matt Smith era of Doctor Who that first brought her into the limelight.

In December, the actor had her first child, a daughter named Clementine, with her husband, comedian Nick Kocher, making her a mother for the very first time.

Sharing the happy news on Instagram, she wrote: “2024 thank you for giving us Clementine.”

The star’s schedule is packed with upcoming projects, one of which is the film titled “Let’s Have Kids!“, that revolves around two old friends named Emma and Phoebe who have been close since forever.

In unison, they opt to start having their initial children concurrently, aiming to face the vast unknown of parenthood as a team. Regrettably, their bond is strained severely when only one of them becomes pregnant.

She’s additionally slated to play a role in the comedy “Fools,” a production that centers around an unconventional aspect of Mary Tudor’s life – her bond with a female court jester.

Marriage Material is available to stream now on Prime Video.
