Kamala Harris will give her first post-convention interview to CNN
As a seasoned film enthusiast who has witnessed countless political dramas unfold on the silver screen, I must admit that this latest chapter in American politics is shaping up to be quite the blockbuster. The upcoming joint interview between Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz, their first as the 2024 Democratic presidential ticket, promises to be a captivating moment in our political cinema.
On Thursday, Vice President Kamala Harris and her partner, Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota, will engage in a shared television interview with Dana Bash from CNN – marking their initial appearance together as the 2024 Democratic nominees for president and vice president.
On Tuesday, it was revealed that the interview featuring Harris and Walz will be recorded for broadcast at 9 p.m. Eastern Time and 6 p.m. Pacific Time.
For several weeks now, it’s been observed by journalists and commentators that Kamala Harris hasn’t given a formal press interview since Joe Biden stepped down from the presidential race and supported her as his replacement on July 21.
Harris and Walz will conduct their initial interview together while traveling on a bus trip through the crucial state of Georgia, a tradition for presidential candidates to perform their first interviews post-convention with their vice presidential candidates accompanying them.
Following my successful co-moderation alongside CNN anchor Jake Tapper in the June 27 presidential debate between former President Trump and Biden, I am honored to have been chosen for a new role. Despite Trump’s known disdain for CNN, he commended our impartiality during the event, though some viewers expressed disappointment over the absence of real-time fact-checking. As a movie critic, I strive for balance and fairness in my analysis, just as I did during that debate.
The debate was likely one of the most significant in U.S. history, as a severe response to Joe Biden’s subpar showing ultimately resulted in him ending his campaign.
1. After the debate, Harris was seen on various networks, speaking up for Biden and his administration’s achievements. The strong defense she presented that evening may have contributed to her being selected as a prominent figure within the Democratic party following Biden’s decision.
However, since then, Harris has responded to just a few queries from reporters and has yet to hold a proper press briefing.
Previously, the Attorney General and Senator from California has been praised for a well-received Democratic National Convention held in Chicago a week ago. Her poll numbers against Trump have seen an improvement as a result.
On September 10th, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are set to clash in a debate, which will take place in Philadelphia. This high-profile encounter is being organized by ABC News, with hosts David Muir and Linsey Davis overseeing the event. The debate will be distributed across various television and cable networks.
