Kaley Cuoco’s New Mystery Thriller Series Acquired by MGM+

Okay, so Kaley Cuoco is already bouncing back! Just six months after Based on a True Story got the axe, she’s landed a new show on a U.S. network. It’s great to see her quickly finding another project – she’s a real pro.

MGM+ has obtained the rights to stream the mystery thriller series *Vanished* in the United States, Spain, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Latin America. This follows a deal with Prime Video, which will stream the series in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Filmed earlier this year in Marseille and Paris, *Vanished* stars Kaley Cuoco alongside Sam Claflin (known for *Peaky Blinders* and *The Hunger Games*), Karin Viard (*The Bélier Family*), Matthias Schweighöfer (*Army of the Dead*), Simon Abkarian (*Casino Royale*), and Dar Zuzovsky (*The Saints*).

MGM+ is excited to be the U.S. home of the mystery thriller *Vanished*, according to Michael Wright, head of MGM+. The series, starring Kaley Cuoco and Sam Claflin, is a thrilling and surprising story set against the beautiful scenery of France. Wright believes *Vanished* is a great addition to MGM+, as it combines classic Hollywood storytelling with a contemporary feel.

Starring Kaley Cuoco, *Vanished* follows Alex as she investigates the mysterious disappearance of her boyfriend, Tom (Sam Claflin), while he was traveling by train in the south of France. The series, created by David Hilton and Preston Thompson, will reveal surprising truths about Tom as Alex digs deeper into the circumstances surrounding his vanishing. Preston Thompson also directed the series, with Barnaby Thompson (*Pixie*), and Cuoco served as an executive producer.

Vanished Is Kaley Cuoco’s Latest Post-Big Bang Theory Series

Kaley Cuoco has been a consistent presence in Hollywood since the early 2000s. She first gained recognition with roles on the ABC sitcom *8 Simple Rules* and the WB drama *Charmed*, but became widely known for playing Penny in *The Big Bang Theory*. Cuoco was a main cast member throughout all 12 seasons of the popular comedy, which ran from 2007 to 2019.

After *The Big Bang Theory* ended, Kaley Cuoco starred in a couple of TV series, but neither lasted for more than two seasons. Her first, the HBO Max comedy-thriller *The Flight Attendant*, earned her Golden Globe, Critics’ Choice, and Emmy nominations two years in a row. However, Cuoco announced in January 2024 that the show wouldn’t be returning for a third season, despite positive reviews.

Kaley Cuoco then starred in the Peacock series *Based on a True Story*, where she and Chris Messina played a married couple, Ava and Nathan Bartlett. They decide to profit from the public’s fascination with true crime by starting a podcast featuring serial killer Matt Pierce (played by Tom Bateman). Despite producer Michael Costigan’s belief that the show had potential for further seasons, Peacock canceled it in April 2025, just five months after the release of its second season.

MGM+ has not announced a premiere window yet for Vanished.
