Viewers are learning the reasons behind the choice Kaley Cuoco‘s character, Alice, made in the final episode of Vanished.
The show centers around Alice, whose boyfriend Tom Parker, played by Sam Claflin, mysteriously disappears on a train in France. She sets out to uncover the secrets he’s been keeping from her. Kaley Cuoco, in an interview with TV Line, talked about whether it would be wise to remain with someone capable of such deception.
Imagine falling in love with someone who works for Interpol, but their job requires complete secrecy. They can’t share any details about what they do. Would you be able to maintain the relationship? How would that make you feel?
She added that ideally, he would have kept her character informed about what was happening. “A part of me always wondered why he didn’t say anything,” Cuoco said. “Couldn’t he have at least given her a sign, offered some kind of reassurance?”
Despite understanding his reasons, she believed his decision to keep her uninformed damaged their relationship. She explained, “Even if he’s a wonderful person and had good intentions, it’s hard to rebuild trust after something like that.” She questioned whether their relationship could ever fully recover.
Tom’s betrayal shattered Alice’s trust and put her in serious danger. This also threatened Hélène, who was assisting Alice in uncovering a criminal network at the end of the show, Vanished. Alice was captured by Saeed and forced to fight for her life, ultimately killing him by stabbing him in the eyes. However, the danger didn’t end there; she later found herself trapped by Alex and managed to incapacitate him with a hammer.
Although Tom managed to save the day by shooting the leader of the mercenaries, it wasn’t enough to fix things with his partner. After discovering his lies and nearly losing her life, she agreed with Alice’s choice to break up with him.
Alice narrowly escaped a life-threatening situation. She was kidnapped and found herself stranded in an unfamiliar country. The thought of her potentially staying with her kidnapper is completely unacceptable.
Vanished first premiered on the streamer on February 1, 2026.
