Kai Rooney Scores Epic Last-Minute Winner for Manchester United Academy, Parents Beam with Pride
On Thursday, Coleen and Wayne Rooney felt a sense of pride as their oldest son, Kai, was part of a winning team in the Under-15 Premier League Floodlit Cup North football tournament.
The 15-year-old is striving hard to emulate his father, Wayne, and he’s creating quite a splash in the Manchester United junior training program, where he enrolled in 2020.
Overwhelmed with joy, I can hardly contain my excitement as I share this triumphant tale! After all, it was none other than our beloved Red Devils who brought glory to their parents, clinching the trophy against Manchester City in an exhilarating finale. Truly, nothing beats the thrill of witnessing our team’s victories!
In the 96th minute of extra time, it was Kai who netted the thrilling, come-from-behind goal. The team found themselves trailing 3-0 with just twelve minutes left in regulation play, but they managed to pull off an impressive comeback and won 4-3.
On Instagram, Coleen and Wayne expressed their pride by saying: “We’re really proud of @kairooney.10! His team had a fantastic comeback last night, and scoring the winning goal in extra time is always something special. Keep up the hard work, son!
They posted two photos showing the skillful youth player on the field, one with a medal hung around his neck and another where he was holding the trophy afterwards.

Colleen too posted a video of the team’s jubilation on her Instagram Story, commenting: “@kairooney.10 scores the winning goal! The guys played exceptionally well… congrats”.
A week following Kai’s demonstration of his remarkable football lineage through yet another awe-inspiring goal, we find ourselves here.
It’s evident that he possesses considerable skill, as he managed an impressive 56 goals during his debut season with the youth squad. Over the summer, fans playfully suggested he should be promoted to the first team at Old Trafford following his impressive displays in training, with a video circulating online showcasing his exceptional finishing ability.
United ultimately suffered a crushing 5-1 defeat to their Spanish counterparts.
Previously this year, Coleen openly shared that he’s been experiencing pressure due to his family’s football legacy, and has faced harsh criticism from fans on account of his father.
His father, through his lengthy career both as a player and coach, has been exposed to a fair share of booing and negative cheers. Nevertheless, Wayne sets a high bar, yet Kai seems to be progressing admirably at the youth stage.
His father has been crowned as the five-time champion of the Premier League, holds the record for United’s highest goalscorer with 253 goals, and also managed to claim victory in the Champions League during the year 2008.
On the heels of joyfully sharing heartwarming family snaps on my Instagram last Friday, I can’t help but feel a swell of pride, as my husband Wayne showcased our little artist’s lovely portrait of him.
In a single lovely moment captured, the woman of four children, aged 39, gleamed with beauty while donning a stylish halterneck swimsuit. She playfully posed alongside her two boys, Kit at the age of eight, and his younger brother Cass, aged five.

The WAG tied her brunette tresses up in a bun as she enjoyed a relaxing dip in a bubbly jacuzzi.
In another delightful shot, at the same time, Wayne, who is 39 like Cass, was spotted beaming with pride as he showed off a portrait of himself made by his son, Cass, while they savored a restaurant meal together.
The football manager appeared just as loving as any dad, as he engaged in quality moments with his son, who was busy drawing pictures.
Meanwhile, Coleen also gave fans a glimpse into what her family life has looked like lately.
In an instant, you can see one of her sons delightfully engaged in fishing, and another heartwarming image captures two of her sons spending a joyful day at the beach.
Later on, the delighted mom posted a picture for her audience, showing her 10-year-old boy Klay all dressed up in his soccer uniform while playing a game.
In a delightful snapshot, Klay gleamed with joy upon encountering Luke Littler, a renowned darts player.
Coleen captioned the series of snaps with: ‘Lately ❤️’
In another place, Colleen just turned 39 years old, and her partner Wayne honored her on that memorable occasion by acknowledging her.
Earlier this month, the retired soccer player expressed his affection for his spouse by posting a heartwarming message on Instagram, praising her as exceptional.

Posting two photos featuring Coleen with her boys, he captioned: ‘Wishing the absolute best on your birthday! Grateful for all you do.’
He also re-shared the picture on his Stories, adding: ‘Thanks for everything. Love you.’
The couple have been married since 2008 and share four sons – Kai, Kit, Klay, and Cass.
Recently, Colleen provided some details about her and her husband Wayne’s routine following their busy work and family obligations, sharing what they typically do after a tiring day.
As a devoted admirer, I recently had the privilege of hearing about the star’s experiences since Wayne returned home following his departure from Plymouth Argyle, in an exclusive chat with TopMob.
She explained that sleep is crucial for both of them, even though they often fail to get their recommended seven hours due to the children at home. Additionally, she disclosed some activities they enjoy engaging in together.
Colleen mentioned that Wayne is currently using some of her newly-introduced supplements from Applied Nutrition. Given his fondness for getting a good night’s rest, they both enjoy having a cup of the sleep powder mixed with warm water before going to bed together.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’d put it this way: After a brief stint at the helm that didn’t quite pan out as planned, I found myself back home in Cheshire, reunited with my beloved wife and our four cherished children, following the conclusion of my management role.

Coleen said it has been great having Wayne around more to help out with their four boys.
She explained: ‘It’s great having him around. It’s great for the kids to have their dad back.
He takes care of school appointments such as parent-teacher meetings, pick-ups, and drop-offs, and we often go for family walks or swim with the children.
Coleen previously discussed the struggles of raising the boys during the height of Wayne’s career.
In certain moments, it felt akin to being a lone parent, particularly during his tenure at Manchester United and England – I, his most devoted fan, could attest to that.
‘You could never rely on a plan. I like a plan and a schedule. I found that hard.’
