Kai Cenat back to Twitch after hacking incident: ‘Police are involved’

Authorities are “closing in” on finding Cenat’s hacker.

23-year-old Twitch superstar Kai Cenat has resumed streaming following a recent hacking incident on both his YouTube and Twitch platforms. He’s now disclosing insights into the ongoing investigation.

Instead of talking about the conversation surrounding the police’s role in the case and him freely disclosing a relatively easy-to-remember password, Cenat narrated the widely shared incident where he believed he had permanently lost his channel.

On April 5th, Cenat resumed his Twitch streaming, starting off in a state of surprise as he walked around his chair, expressing disbelief over someone managing to figure out his password – a password he had carelessly shared during the live broadcast.

In a million years, I wouldn’t imagine anyone could figure out my password. After all, it’s “Bustdownrollieavalanche3210”, and even the ‘0’ at the end of the ‘3210’ sequence seems pretty obscure, Cenat pointed out.

As a gamer, I found the password surprisingly straightforward, as it was based on the lyrics of Cenat’s hit track “Bustdown Rollie Avalanche.” With the sequence of numbers following the rhythm of the song, it seemed like an easy guess since this tune has racked up a staggering 83 million plays on Spotify and is his most-streamed song.

To be honest, it seems more plausible that one of Cenat’s gadgets got breached, giving the hacker known as “Sava” control over his streaming platform.

Later on, Centa disclosed information regarding the current probe into the hack, explaining that his team had already reached out to the law enforcement, and now, the authorities are actively working towards apprehending the culprit.

He shared some positive news, but added a note of regret. The situation has escalated as the police are now involved and their location has been identified. It seems they’re setting this person up to make numerous mistakes.

Cenat added VODs that were removed from his channel would be restored “soon.”

Cenat’s Twitch, YouTube channel compromised after April 3 hack

On April 3, Cenat’s Twitch account was suspended following Sava gaining control over the channel. In a twist, the hacker posted a message on Cenat’s Twitch bio: “Got your Discord suspended, Mr. Cenat, this is the consequence.” The hacker then altered Cenat’s profile picture and banner, removed all the VODs (Video on Demand) and clips from the channel.

The ban, which turned out to be short-term, was removed within approximately 25 hours. Given the circumstances, it seems that Twitch temporarily suspended Cenat’s account as a precautionary measure to avoid any future abuse or harm.

Additionally, Sava managed to get hold of Cenat’s YouTube channel, inserting links for his alternate Discord server within the videos, and simultaneously removing all of Cenat’s video content.

During a friend’s live stream shortly after the event, Cenat said something like, ‘What else can I do but be upset? That’s just how life goes.’ However, now that his YouTube channel is operational again (although some thumbnails are missing), it seems things have returned to their usual state for him.

In a follow-up cyber attack on Cenat, Sava was responsible for the second instance of unauthorized access, affecting the streamer’s TikTok account towards the end of February. Normal service resumed following multiple hours.
