Anime fans have been eagerly awaiting the next installment of the popular rom-com series from A-1 Pictures. A new teaser trailer and release date were just announced, with the new season set to premiere later this month.
On December 9, 2025, the official X (formerly Twitter) account for Kaguya-sama: Love Is War announced a new TV anime special called Kaguya-sama: Love Is War – Stairway to Adulthood. A short trailer revealed that Kaguya Shinomiya and Miyuki Shirogane will return as the main characters, navigating the challenges of high school romance. The trailer also offered a sneak peek of the new opening theme, “A Dangerous Memory,” performed by Masayuki Suzuki and Aoi Koga, who voices Kaguya. The special is set to premiere on December 31, 2025.
Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Returns After 3 Years With New Anime Trailer & Release Date
Based on the manga by Aka Akasaka—the creator of Oshi no Ko—Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War offers a fresh take on the familiar “enemies to lovers” story often seen in anime. The series follows Kaguya Shinomiya and Miyuki Shirogane, the top students at Shuchiin Academy, who are both too proud to admit their feelings for each other. Instead of being honest, they engage in elaborate schemes to trick the other into confessing their love first.
The first season of Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War originally aired from January to March 2019, and proved to be very popular. This success led to two more seasons, a special animated video, and a movie called Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War – The First Kiss That Never Ends, which came out in Japan in December 2022 and in North America in February 2023. Mamoru Hatakeyama (or Shinichi Omata) directed both the anime series and the movie, and he’s also known for his work on shows like Black Butler, Hetalia: The Beautiful World, and Undead Murder Farce.
