KADOKAWA will release a new match-3 puzzle game, Oshi no Ko: Puzzle Star, for Android and iOS in Japan on February 25, 2026. The game, developed by NHN, is the first puzzle title based on the popular anime series, Oshi no Ko (also known as My Favorite Idol’s Child).

Oshi no Ko: Puzzle Star is a new match-3 puzzle game inspired by the popular manga series. Players can team up with characters like Ai, Aqua, and Ruby to solve puzzles by matching colorful pieces. Clearing stages unlocks famous scenes from the anime.

The anime this game is based on is very popular in both Japan and around the world, known for its strong story and interesting look at idol culture and the connections fans feel with performers. I’m excited to try the game because of that, although I was hoping for more than just a match-3 puzzle. Still, I’m sure dedicated fans of the anime will really enjoy it.
What I especially loved were the card illustrations, personally overseen by Hirona Hirayama, the chief animation director of the anime. These illustrations aren’t just beautiful; they actually give you an edge during gameplay. The game seems really enjoyable with its puzzles, story chapters, unique costumes, and other features.
The puzzle game, My Favorite Child Puzzle Star, will be available on Android and iOS devices in Japan starting February 25, 2026.
