As a movie lover and avid fan of Justin Timberlake’s music, I was shocked and saddened to hear about his recent arrest for driving under the influence in the Hamptons. I have always admired Justin for his exceptional talent as an artist and actor, and his ability to entertain audiences with his captivating performances.
As a movie buff, I’d put it this way: Early Tuesday morning in New York, I unfortunately found myself in a sticky situation. You see, I had been enjoying an evening in the Hamptons when I made a regrettable decision to get behind the wheel after having a few too many drinks. Sadly, this led to my arrest on charges of driving under the influence.
On Tuesday morning, the singer well-known for his hits “Selfish” and “Cry Me a River,” was brought before Sag Harbor Village Justice Court in Long Island’s wealthy eastern end. The District Attorney’s Office of Suffolk County confirmed this to The Times. According to the Sag Harbor Police Department, he is accused of neglecting to halt at a stop sign and maintaining his lane while behind the wheel.
Around 12:30 a.m. local time, according to The Times’ report, a 43-year-old singer was driving a 2025 BMW on Madison Street, one of the busiest roads in the village. He reportedly ran a stop sign and had difficulty keeping his vehicle in its lane. A law enforcement officer stopped the singer and concluded that he was under the influence based on their assessment.

I observed signs of heavy alcohol consumption in him. His eyes were red and glazed over, giving off a distinct odor of alcohol from his breath. My focus was difficult to maintain as I tried to engage with him, and his speech was noticeably sluggish. He struggled to keep his balance and showed poor performance on all the standardized tests used to evaluate sobriety.
In the early 2000s, the renowned musician from Memphis, Tennessee, who became a global sensation as the lead vocalist of N*SYNC, was taken into custody and kept in jail until his hearing, which began around 9:30 a.m. local time. The artist behind “Can’t Stop the Feeling” was charged with a misdemeanor for driving under the influence. It’s unknown how Timberlake responded to the charges, but he was released on his own promise to appear in court. His next scheduled court appearance is on July 26.
On Taylor, the singer, the Sag Harbor Police Department published a mug shot on Tuesday, obtained during the booking process.
According to TMZ, the “Trolls” actor drove back from his late-night dinner at a hotel around midnight, only to be stopped by police shortly after getting behind the wheel.
A renowned artist, holding ten Grammy Awards and four Emmys, has been making a return to the spotlight following years of controversy surrounding his past actions towards women. In 2021, documentaries revealed new details about Britney Spears’ life and her long-term conservatorship. In response, the former “Mickey Mouse Club” member, who co-headlined the Super Bowl with Janet Jackson in 2004, publicly apologized for falling short and acknowledging the detrimental system that perpetuates misogyny and racism.
In 2002, the acclaimed R&B and pop artist, previously a member of N*SYNC, dropped his solo debut album titled “Justified.” Six studio albums later, he unveiled “Everything I Thought It Was” in March this year. Kicking off his Forget Tomorrow world tour in April, Timberlake is slated to perform in Chicago on the coming Friday and Saturday. Subsequently, he will take the stage at Madison Square Garden in New York City on the following Tuesday and Wednesday.
It is unclear when or if Timberlake will publicly address the DWI charge.
Last Sunday, Jessica Biel, Timberlake’s actress wife, shared uncommon images of the singer and their two sons, Silas who is 9 years old, and Phineas, aged 3, as a tribute for Father’s Day.
“To different people, you are many things. But to us, you’re an unwavering source of strength and support. A shelter from the heat. A place to rest and feel secure. May our affection for you keep you firmly rooted and comforted, forever.” – a sentiment expressed by the “7th Heaven” actor on Instagram.
On Monday, Central Park in New York City was the location for filming “The Better Sister,” a upcoming thriller by Prime Video, with Biel in attendance, as reported by the New York Post.
