The latest season of Justin Hartley’s popular crime series is currently airing. The CBS show, starring Hartley as Colter Shaw—a resourceful survival expert who finds missing persons and earns rewards—has been a big success for the network, helping it perform well during its premiere week.
I’m so excited about this show – it’s become a real phenomenon! It’s already been great since season two, but this latest season is even bigger, pulling in almost 13 million viewers! And it’s really helping CBS – they’re now number one in live TV ratings for entertainment, averaging almost 7 million viewers across all platforms. That puts them ahead of ABC, NBC, and Fox, which is fantastic to see. Plus, getting to see Jensen Ackles in it is a bonus!
CBS has seen strong performance from several shows this fall, according to Nielsen data. In addition to Tracker, Matlock, 60 Minutes, Boston Blue, and Fire Country are all doing well for the network. Matlock, starring Kathy Bates, is averaging 10.7 million viewers after its first two episodes. 60 Minutes has averaged 8.9 million viewers across four episodes, and Boston Blue has averaged 8.64 million viewers since its debut on October 17th. The Fire Country spin-off is also off to a promising start, averaging 7.73 million viewers since premiering on October 17th.
CBS is seeing strong success with its comedies. The new sitcom DMV, starring Tim Meadows, launched on October 13th and drew 6.6 million viewers – a 46% increase compared to last season’s premiere of Poppa’s House in the same time slot. Returning favorite Ghosts started its fifth season this fall with an average of 8.27 million viewers, and the first two episodes of Elsbeth averaged 8.26 million. New shows Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage and the eighth season of FBI also performed well, averaging 7.85 million and 7.58 million viewers, respectively.
The Future of Jensen Ackles on Tracker
The TV show Tracker will be back with a new episode on November 9th. So far in Season 3, Jensen Ackles, known for Supernatural, has reappeared as Colter Shaw’s brother, Russell Shaw. He first appeared in the episode “Leverage,” and Tracker’s executive producer, Elwood Reid, has indicated that Ackles will return as Russell Shaw in future episodes.
“It’s hard to say what will happen next,” Reid shared. “I really enjoy writing scenes with Jensen, and I think his dynamic with Justin is fantastic – they have great chemistry. I’d love to keep working with Jensen, either within the current storyline or potentially in a world he creates. You can always hope for that,” Reid concluded.
Tracker airs new episodes on Sundays on CBS and streams the next day on Paramount+.
