Justin Bieber’s former manager Scooter Braun thought about suicide amid public clash with Taylor Swift

In a challenging period of both his personal life and professional career, Scooter Braun openly shared that he struggled with contemplating self-harm.

The 43-year-old entertainment industry leader, famously recognized for managing chart-topping pop sensations including Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Demi Lovato, discusses his toughest times on the Diary of a CEO podcast.

A successful music industry titan, originally from New York City, discussed his struggle with suicide despite achieving a level of success that many aspire to, following the acquisition of Taylor Swift’s previous works under contentious circumstances in 2019.

Braun explained that the primary motivation behind his attendance at a personal growth retreat in October 2020 was due to the fact that his marriage with Yael Cohen, aged 38, who he has children Jagger (9), Levi (7), and Hart (5) with, was on the verge of collapse.

After getting trapped in a maze of ‘What if’ questions, Braun confessed that he found himself in a deeply troubled state, when his life seemed to be falling apart due to the emerging marital separation.

For approximately twenty minutes, Braun contemplated thoughts of suicide due to concerns about his marriage. He found himself thinking, “If my marriage ends, I won’t always be there for my children.” He acknowledged that he couldn’t control the situation and felt like he wouldn’t maintain the perfect image he had portrayed to the world.

Braun added: ‘And if I can’t be this perfect image, I don’t want to be here.’

In simpler terms, Braun is expressing that people often misunderstand his situation, assuming he’s living an exceptionally prosperous life due to the success he has helped achieve for artists like Bieber and Grande.

After the phase of contemplating suicide had fortunately ended, Braun found himself with a newfound sense of clarity, purpose, and concentration.

Speaking personally, those thoughts were never mine – I could never abandon my children. Truthfully, the idea is alien to me. It left me questioning, “What on earth was that?

As a lifestyle expert, I can share that my seven-year union with an influential activist named Cohen has come to an end. While I won’t delve into the specifics, I feel it’s important to express that my deep admiration and respect for him remain unchanged.

> We’ll always be a part of each other’s lives, and that’s reciprocal. It wasn’t just about one incident or action; it took contributions from both sides to reach where we are now. Events unfolded in a two-way street between us.

According to Braun, following a conversation with a trusted friend, he was suggested to attend a seven-day self-improvement and personal development retreat known as The Hoffman Process. This is aimed at helping him adjust more effectively to the changes associated with his upcoming divorce.

He mentioned that facility representatives informed him he would be granted access within two weeks, as there had been a cancellation. This coincided with the release of Ariana Grande’s Dangerous Woman album.

I understand that I, being a devoted fan, was glad to hear that he was supportive when Ariana decided to postpone the release of her album for him to prioritize his health.

Braun admitted that the significant event prompted him to delve deep into his soul, discovering what really mattered to him as he continued on his journey.

Braun shared, “For my entire life, I’ve been chasing these pursuits, making choices about what kind of life to live, and selecting certain clients. However, despite being at the pinnacle of success, I contemplated taking my own life last night. Clearly, something needs to shift.

He continued: ‘I chose to go to that place instead. The hard stuff actually came after I got out.’

In his own words, Braun mentioned that having the necessary resources for equilibrium allowed him to weather turbulent periods without experiencing excessive sadness.

In my personal journey, I found myself navigating the challenging path of a divorce, yet remarkably, I’ve managed to steer clear of depression ever since.
