Justin Baldoni and the co-founder of his production company are asking a judge to dismiss the multi-million dollar lawsuit filed against them by Blake Lively.
The ongoing legal battle involving actor Justin, 41, took a new turn recently. This case began last year when a co-star from his film ‘It Ends With Us’ accused him of sexual harassment, and Justin is now asking the court to dismiss the case, arguing no jury would likely find him responsible.
In a recent court filing, the celebrity and his business partner Steve Sarowitz are asking judges to reject the actress’s claim that negative publicity caused by him resulted in $56.2 million in lost earnings.
According to a financial disclosure filed in July and examined by Variety on Thursday, Lively’s total income comes from various entertainment ventures, including her work as an actress, producer, public speaker, and brand spokesperson.
In a recent court filing, the defendant’s lawyers argue that no rational jury would convict him. They claim that while lost earnings are being cited, these losses aren’t just guesses – they can’t be accurately determined, making a conviction unlikely.

Last December, Blake filed a lawsuit against Justin, alleging sexual harassment, harmful retaliation, and causing intentional emotional distress.
The actress filed a lawsuit claiming Justin sexually harassed her and tried to ruin her career by spreading false information. He has strongly denied all of the accusations.
In her legal case, Blake accused Justin and several people he works with, such as his production company Wayfarer Studios, its head Steve (who also provides funding), and publicists Nathan and Abel.
Baldoni first sought $250 million from The New York Times due to a published report, and later combined that claim with a $400 million lawsuit he’d already filed in January.
The lawsuit, which referenced a previously published report, named Blake Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist Leslie Sloane as defendants. However, the case was dismissed in June. All involved parties have denied any wrongdoing.
Justin recently submitted a new legal request, arguing that parts of Lively’s claim for damages should be thrown out.
The requests to dismiss the case include arguments that Lively doesn’t have the right to claim lost profits or royalties, and cannot recover profits that are only speculative.

Just before the release of the new documents, Blake achieved a significant legal win. A lawsuit accusing her of defamation, filed by a digital strategist with ties to Justin, was dismissed by the court.
Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE this! Apparently, back in February, some company called Street Relations Inc. – and its owner, Jed Wallace, can you even imagine? – actually sued her! I was absolutely horrified when I found out. It’s just…unbelievable that anyone would try to take her down like that!
The actress from Gossip Girl included Wallace and his company in a lawsuit she filed last December against Justin, related to the book It Ends with Us.
Someone familiar with Justin’s situation explained to the Daily Mail that both cases were dismissed because the courts didn’t have the authority to hear them.
Blake primarily held Jed responsible for the supposed negative campaign against him. However, even putting aside the reasons for Jed’s removal, he is no longer involved in Blake’s lawsuit.
The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Lively for further comment on the story.

A representative for Lively said this recent news allows the actress and her legal team to build a solid defense for their upcoming court case next spring.
According to Blake Lively’s representative who spoke to TMZ, all the lawsuits Justin Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios, and their PR teams filed in response to an earlier issue have been dropped.
The representative stated that Blake Lively will have the opportunity to present her case during the trial in New York next March.
The decision followed a judge’s dismissal of claims by Lively that Wallace had worked with others to harm her reputation online, through social media.
The judge stated that Lively’s lawyers made a mistake by filing the lawsuit in New York City, because Wallace lives and works in Austin, Texas.

The lawsuit was dropped because the court didn’t have the authority to hear the case against the defendant in Texas. It wasn’t determined that Texas was the right place to bring the legal action.
According to a Lively representative who spoke to People on November 5th, today’s court decision simply determined the proper location for a lawsuit against Jed Wallace. The court confirmed that Blake Lively’s claims against him should be filed in another court.
The actor, known for her role in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, is still considering how to proceed, according to a representative.
The representative clarified that this decision doesn’t affect Lively’s lawsuit against Baldoni, Heath, Sarowitz, Nathan, Abel, Wayfarer, and The Agency Group, which is scheduled to be heard in a New York court in March.
