Justin Baldoni addresses “friction” on It Ends With Us set
As a die-hard fan of both Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, I must say that their recent collaboration in “It Ends With Us” has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. Rumors of friction on set have swirled like a tempest, but I’ve always believed that the most beautiful art is born from a bit of strife.
It Ends With Us director and star Justin Baldoni has addressed “friction” on the movie’s set.
The movie adaption of Colleen Hoover’s book has just hit the big screens, but there seems to be some tension between lead actors, Baldoni and Blake Lively, according to fan speculation.
The rumors are spreading because the actors haven’t appeared for joint interviews, and Blake Lively and the rest of the film’s cast do not follow Jovani Baldoni on Instagram.
The Hollywood Reporter also claims there was tension during the post-production process.
In his recent chat with Elle UK, Baldoni didn’t explicitly touch on those rumors, but he did acknowledge that the filming process involved some tension due to differing personalities and navigating relationships.
He mentioned that both acting and directing are extremely difficult tasks, particularly for a project as intricate as the one at hand. The character of Ryle was quite complex to portray, and he felt a significant amount of stress associated with it. Moreover, as a director, managing diverse personalities is an ongoing challenge.
As a gamer, let me share my perspective: Each day on this production set is filled with a myriad of events, and as we strive to create something extraordinary like a movie, there’s bound to be tension among us. Yet, at the end of every grueling day, it’s that very tension I feel, that friction, which I believe fuels the flames of creativity, ultimately forging the masterpiece we seek.
In life, growth requires challenges, and that’s exactly what we faced when creating this stunning masterpiece. It wasn’t easy, but it was both difficult and rewarding simultaneously.
“And I grew so much as both a filmmaker, an actor and as a person throughout this experience.”
The story, titled “It Ends With Us“, centers around Lily Bloom, a florist, who finds herself ensnared in an abusive relationship with Ryle Kincaid. However, her past intertwines with her present as she encounters Atlas Corrigan, her former love.
Despite receiving a mix of positive and negative feedback, the film had a strong start at the box office, raking in $50 million in North America during its first weekend and amassing $80 million worldwide.
It Ends With Us is out now in cinemas.
