Just Don’t Make It Weird!
In just a few days, TV screens will be graced with Season 10 of “Bachelor in Paradise” in the year 2025, and anticipation is high, tinged with apprehension for this revamped reality dating series following its difficult ninth season and brief hiatus. Notable changes are on the horizon, such as introducing contestants from “The Golden Bachelor.” Once more, host Jesse Palmer has addressed the possibility of age-gap relationships, rekindling the conversation after his and Wells Adams’ earlier comments sparked controversy among former cast members.
During his recent appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan, Jesse Palmer addressed concerns about relationships developing among the cast of ‘Golden’ and the show’s younger participants. He admitted to discussing this matter with the contestants participating in the dating show, stating that it was indeed a topic he had raised.
I made this statement: “Consider, there are two generations utilizing the beach simultaneously. I can’t dictate who you should or shouldn’t love. However, I urged everyone to maintain their respective generational boundaries. Most importantly, try to avoid creating an awkward situation. In essence, keep things normal.
Jesse Palmer emphasized to the talk show hosts that the Goldens are equally deserving of another opportunity to find love, and he openly admitted that he motivated former Bachelor/Bachelorette contestants to interact with them, but not for romantic intentions. This is how it could be rephrased:
Jesse Palmer underscored to the hosts that the Goldens are equally deserving of another shot at love, and he openly acknowledged that he prompted Bachelor/Bachelorette alums to connect with them, but not with a romantic agenda in mind.
Throughout their performance, I consistently advised the young actors, ‘It’s crucial to tap into their wealth of knowledge and experience. Delve into their minds to comprehend their perspectives on various topics.’
Kelly Ripa wasn’t alone in expressing her disapproval of merging the casts from both shows; Rachael Kirkconnell felt age-gap relationships should not be promoted, while Jade Roper (who found her husband Tanner Courtad during Bachelor in Paradise Season 2) stated she would have felt uneasy in that situation when she was on the show.
The remarks made by Wells Adams and Jesse Palmer hinted at hoping for some interaction between the younger and older contestants. However, the host was evasive about whether such mixing occurred, merely suggesting:
As for me, I can’t deny that it might have taken place. However, you’ll need to tune in and see for yourself. That’s essentially the way we put it together.
Jesse Palmer isn’t ready to disclose what transpired on the beach before the Season 10 premiere, but The Golden Bachelorette‘s Gary Levingston had no qualms discussing what won’t happen. In regards to dating the 20- and 30-year-olds, he assured viewers that they can “feel secure, we won’t be seeing us with the younger crowd.
The conversation about relationships and age on ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ is particularly relevant now, as ABC and their Season 2 ‘Golden Bachelor’, Mel Owens, are facing backlash following controversial remarks he made during a podcast. On the ‘In the Trenches’ show, the 66-year-old stated that he would exclude any woman above the age of 60 from his season when discussing the casting process with producers.

Given that The Golden Bachelor has always featured participants over 60, it’s intriguing to observe what changes or dynamics might emerge following the circulation of the recent podcast quote.
For now, I’ll make sure to catch the new season of Bachelor in Paradise, which starts at 8 p.m. ET on Monday, July 7th on ABC. If you don’t have time to watch it live, you can stream it the following day with a Hulu subscription.
