‘Jurassic World’ Is Back With First ‘Rebirth’ Trailer
Just as the dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park series seem unwilling to fade away, the Jurassic World franchise also persists in coming back to life.
Following the underwhelming experience of Jurassic World Dominion, marketed as “The Final Chapter of the Jurassic Age”, it appears that the saga is reawakening once more with Jurassic World: Rebirth. It seems that life always finds a way to persist, even in the world of dinosaurs.
Even though dinosaurs are still around (implicitly extant), this time there’s a fresh ensemble of characters, featuring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali. They assume roles as a team who venture back to the original Jurassic Park’s lab for an essential mission: recovering dinosaur DNA to develop a miraculous remedy.
The initial teaser hints at the familiar elements that characterize these films: An assemblage of peculiar individuals who assure us all is well and secure, only to be followed by a flurry of prehistoric dinosaur mayhem. Take a peek at it here:
It seldom turns out smoothly when you visit Jurassic Park, doesn’t it? Wouldn’t it be amusing if in one of these films someone said “Don’t fret, everything will be alright,” and then… it actually was? They’d see some magnificent dinosaurs, leave, and that would be the end of it – now that would be a laugh!
Here is the new Jurassic sequel’s official synopsis:
Five years following Jurassic World Dominion’s events, Earth’s ecosystem has primarily become unsuitable for dinosaurs. Remaining specimens inhabit isolated tropical zones, mirroring their ancient habitats. Within this biodiverse region, three massive creatures – one on land, another in the sea, and a third in the air – carry within their genetic makeup, the code for a groundbreaking drug that could offer extraordinary life-saving advantages to humanity.
Jurassic World Rebirth is scheduled to open in theaters on July 2.
The Jurassic Park Sequels Ranked From Kind of Watchable to Horrible
5. The Lost World: Jurassic Park
I’d rather have Jeff Goldblum’s lanky, unconventional physique over Chris Pratt’s muscular, all-purpose heroism any day. In my opinion, “Jurassic World” was the closest we came to a truly excellent “Jurassic Park” sequel; it just lacks a compelling story and intelligent (not idiotic) villains. Perhaps that’s why there seems to be a lack of enthusiasm from Steven Spielberg in scenes that don’t involve intense dinosaur action. The two T-rex sequences, particularly the one with the hanging trailer and the rampage through San Diego, are truly spectacular. Although “Jurassic World” received some of the worst reviews of Spielberg’s career initially, it seems more impressive now – especially since the last 25 years have demonstrated how challenging it is to create a great “Jurassic” sequel.
4. Jurassic Park III
The film “Jurassic Park III” isn’t universally disliked, but it does come across as quite cheap. For some viewers, this is its appeal; it’s the stripped-down, action-packed B-movie spinoff of “Jurassic Park”. The character Alan Grant, portrayed by Sam Neill, is tricked into visiting Isla Sorna due to a missing son of a pair (William H. Macy and Tea Leoni) who went parasailing near Jurassic Park. Parasailing in the vicinity of a dinosaur wasteland is just one of several questionable decisions made in this movie. The film attempts to compensate for its simple plot with a fast-paced tempo that seldom slows down for 95 minutes. If you’re mainly interested in numerous dinosaur attacks and special effects, “Jurassic Park III” will satisfy. However, in an era where “Jurassic Park” offers both abundant action and compelling characters along with thought-provoking themes about technology, science, and nature, it falls short.

The film “Jurassic Park III” isn’t universally panned, but it has a low-budget feel to some viewers, which might be its charm. It serves as the action-packed B-movie version of “Jurassic Park”, featuring Sam Neill’s Alan Grant being duped into visiting Isla Sorna by a couple (William H. Macy and Tea Leoni) whose son went missing parasailing near Jurassic Park. The film attempts to compensate for its simple plot with a breathless pace, but it doesn’t compare to the original in terms of character development and intellectual themes.)
3. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
By 2018, the Jurassic Park/World franchise had fallen into a repetitive pattern: Characters (often including children) visit an island teeming with dinosaurs, are awestruck for a brief moment, then spend most of their time fleeing from danger until the movie ends. Therefore, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom attempted to introduce some fresh elements into the series. While the initial part follows the familiar formula, the story later shifts to a mansion setting, transforming it into a type of horror movie where raptors take on the role of spectral beings. There are other aspects that fail to impress, such as a questionable clone plotline, but one cannot argue that Fallen Kingdom was just another Jurassic Park film.
2. Jurassic World
In the film “Jurassic World,” Chris Pratt’s character, Owen Grady, plays a role similar to that of the original Alan Grant in terms of appreciating and elucidating the majesty of dinosaurs. However, unlike Grant who was primarily a scientist with limited survival skills, Grady is a former soldier as well, demonstrating proficiency in various areas such as handling firearms, tracking animals and people, and navigating out of challenging situations. He appears invincible, calm, and seemingly immune to danger. What makes Grady even less appealing as the lead for an action movie is his arrogance – he flaunts his skills, strikes tough poses, and behaves like the ruler of Dino Island. This self-assured attitude might not appeal to many viewers. Combining this character with a repetition of the original “Jurassic Park’s” narrative structure results in a predictable and somewhat dull movie, despite its impressive visual effects and set design.
1. Jurassic World: Dominion
In a nutshell, the idea of merging the casts from “Jurassic Park” and “World” seemed intriguing, particularly since “Fallen Kingdom” hinted at dinosaurs invading our world. However, instead of focusing on this exciting concept where dinosaurs rule the planet, we get a movie about crop-eating locusts. This is a missed opportunity for an interesting premise. To add insult to injury, this film seems to be just another rehash of the original’s plot, with yet another remote dino sanctuary that falls apart. Yes, the franchise emphasizes the importance of learning from past mistakes, but it feels unfair for audiences to endure this repetition when the filmmakers fail to take their own message to heart.
