Jurassic Park & World Rotten Tomatoes Scores: You Won’t Believe What’s #1!

One could argue that for dinosaur enthusiasts, the year 2025 offers a fair share of intrigue due to the ongoing cinema run of “Jurassic World Rebirth”. However, it’s important to note that this perspective might be overly optimistic given some people’s views. Critical reviews towards “Rebirth”, unfortunately, haven’t been as favorable.

In a way, things aren’t all that bad! It’s a matter of perspective, like looking at whether a glass is half full or half empty. When considering the franchise’s standing with critics, as shown by its Rotten Tomatoes approval ratings, it sheds light on the varying opinions about films beyond the original Jurassic Park. If you take a look at the entire critical reception of the Jurassic Universe, the status and acclaim of everything apart from Steven Spielberg’s ’90s masterpiece is up for debate:

(Note: The paragraph above maintains the original’s informative tone while providing a more conversational flow and using simpler language.)

  1. Jurassic Park (1993) – 91%
  2. Jurassic World (2015) – 72%
  3. The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) – 56%
  4. Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) – 53%
  5. Jurassic Park III (2001) – 49%
  6. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) – 47%
  7. Jurassic World Dominion (2022) – 29%

Despite my genuine appreciation for “Jurassic World Dominion,” I can’t help but be astonished at its relatively low ranking. At least, I find comfort in knowing that actor Jeff Goldblum feels similarly let down about “Dominion,” mirroring the general disappointment surrounding the third installment of “Jurassic World,” which, by all accounts, sits at the bottom of the barrel in terms of quality.

It’s puzzling to find that Jurassic Park III, which split up Dr. Grant and Dr. Sattler back in 2001, received a better response than both Dominion and Fallen Kingdom. Even more surprising, the very movie you can stream with a Peacock subscription – where we saw this scene – is ranked as the second worst installment in the series.

Facing up to this truth can make things seem more hopeless when you realize that only two films in the series inspired by Michael Crichton have positive reviews, as even a king like Distortus Rex might begin to ponder “What Am I Here For?” at this point.

Don’t worry, D-Rex; I can handle that deep question for you: “The Audience.” Despite most critics not being fond of the Jurassic series for a long time, the audience continues to watch. While it appears that Jurassic World Rebirth had a slow start at the box office during its opening weekend, if the overall opinion of this franchise among critics improves, things could end up looking better.
