Jumanji 3 finally confirms release date

As a fan who has grown up with the Jumanji franchise, I can hardly contain my excitement! The announcement of Jumanji 3’s release date feels like Christmas came early this year. Ever since the hilarious and action-packed adventures of Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black in “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” and its sequel, I’ve been eagerly awaiting their return to the magical world of Jumanji.

Jumanji 3 has finally landed a release date.

In the upcoming edition of this franchise, it’s anticipated that Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black will reprise their roles, given the popularity of their performances in “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” (2017) and its sequel, “The Next Level” (2019). These two films continued the legacy of the original 1995 film starring Robin Williams.

As reported by Deadline, Sony has officially announced that the upcoming installment is set to hit theaters on December 11, 2026.

It’s anticipated that Jake Kasdan, the director behind the last two movies, will continue in his role as director and will also participate in production for the upcoming third film. Alongside him in the production process will be Matt Tolmach, Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia.

The sequel to the 2019 movie, “The Next Level,” was hinted at in its ending, but Kasdan announced in 2020 that production had been postponed because of the ongoing pandemic.

It wasn’t until the filming of Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming Christmas movie, Red One, was completed for Jumanji 3 that production could start in early 2022, as confirmed by producer Hiram Garcia.

The film titled “Red One” (also directed by Kasdan) will revolve around the mysterious vanishing of Santa Claus, portrayed by JK Simmons.

In simpler terms, Johnson portrays the role of Callum Drift, a task force commander in ELF, dispatched to locate and bring back Santa Claus ahead of the upcoming Christmas season.

Alongside Chris Evans, Lucy Liu, Kiernan Shipka, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, and Bonnie Hunt, this lively holiday movie features a star-studded cast.

Back in 2022 when we started filming this wonderful Christmas movie, I enthusiastically shared that Chris Evans and I had been dreaming about making such a project for our whole professional lives. Now, it’s finally happening! The fun, and perhaps some troubles, are just getting started.

Jumanji 3 will hit theaters on December 11, 2026. On the other hand, moviegoers can catch Red One starting from November 15, 2024.
