Julio Iglesias is accused of sexually assaulting and slapping two women who worked for him as live-in staff at his Caribbean mansions

Spanish authorities are investigating allegations that singer Julio Iglesias sexually assaulted and physically attacked two former staff members at his homes in the Caribbean. Prosecutors have confirmed they received a formal complaint detailing the accusations.

The women alleged they experienced mistreatment while working as live-in staff for the famous artist – and father of Enrique Iglesias.

In a detailed report published Tuesday by the Spanish news outlet elDiario, two women – identified as Laura and Rebeca – described what happened.

According to allegations, the sexual abuse happened in 2021 when Iglesias was 77 years old. It reportedly took place at his homes in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and Lyford Cay, Bahamas.

The younger of his two female accusers was 22 at the time.

A representative from the Spanish National Court stated that, following recent media coverage about Julio Iglesias, they confirmed a complaint was submitted to their office on January 5, 2026.

A criminal investigation has begun, and as a standard procedure, the details are confidential.

Because of the serious accusations and the ongoing, confidential investigation, and to protect those who have alleged harm, we cannot share any more details at this time.

I’ve been following this whole thing with Alejandro Iglesias, and honestly, it’s disturbing. I read in elDiario that the women he was supposedly hiring were asked for photos – like, full-body shots – just to apply! And then, apparently, as soon as they got to the house, he started asking them really personal, intrusive questions. It’s just… creepy, and makes me so angry that he thought he could get away with that. I’m just horrified for these women.

He is accused of asking inappropriate and sexually suggestive questions – including whether they were attracted to women, interested in group sexual activity, and had undergone breast augmentation – before making unwanted physical contact.

Rebeca, a former cleaning employee, claimed her supervisors told her shortly after she started working that she wasn’t allowed to have a boyfriend if she wanted to keep her job with the singer.

She also mentioned being instructed to give her phone to her boss if requested, so he could review her WhatsApp messages.

She told elDiario that Iglesias subjected her to several assaults, including painful forced sexual acts, physical violence, and group sexual encounters with female supervisors after she had been given alcohol.

She stated that Iglesias hit her face with significant force, describing it as a terrible experience. She also alleged that he slapped the housekeeper.

Rebeca stated that she was required to provide Iglesias with extended physical comfort to help alleviate his back pain, which stemmed from a car accident that occurred many years prior.

The ex-cleaner said during the moments of abuse she felt like she couldn’t escape.

I was shocked to hear Laura, our physiotherapist, share a story the singer told her. He confessed that Rebeca tried everything to help him sleep – he actually said she stayed with him all night – but nothing worked! He was completely exhausted and couldn’t sleep a wink. It was a really… unexpected detail, and honestly, a bit much to hear from a patient!

She said: ‘He always made these kinds of comments and then said it was a joke.’

After leaving her job, Rebeca received a diagnosis of dysthymia, a long-lasting form of depression, from a neuropsychologist she was seeing for therapy.

Laura explained to elDiario that she began working for the singer after a man with a strong Spanish accent called her, claiming to be Julio Iglesias and promising to transform her life.

She stated that Iglesias initially seemed welcoming, but his behavior quickly turned humiliating. About two weeks after she started working, he allegedly asked if her breasts were real or surgically enhanced, and then ordered her to show him.

She also said he forcefully kissed her on the mouth.

Laura said the atmosphere at home was always stressful, explaining that the singer was ‘very controlling’ and used fear to maintain power over everyone.

It’s just… he’ll threaten to fire you if you step out of line, but then immediately turn around and act like he’s doing you a huge favor by letting you work for him. It’s a really confusing dynamic. And he’s constantly laying down the law, making sure you know exactly what’s expected and what you absolutely can’t do. It’s exhausting, honestly.

The former physiotherapist said she didn’t have a contract while working for Iglesias, and employees frequently worked very long days – often between 10 and 16 hours.

She wondered how she could live in such a beautiful place and still feel like all she wanted was to be alone in her room.

In a detailed report released today, the news organization stated that the two women who reported the sexual assault were interviewed multiple times over a year, and their stories didn’t change. They also noted that the women’s accounts are backed up by a significant amount of evidence, including photos, phone records, messages, travel documents, and medical records.

Reporters at elDiario.es and Univision made numerous attempts to reach Julio Iglesias and his legal counsel. They sent emails, left phone messages, and mailed letters to his residences, but received no reply to their inquiries.

elDiario interviewed Rebeca’s former supervisor, who denied the claims, calling them false. She described Iglesias as humble, generous, a true gentleman, and respectful to women.

On Tuesday, Isabel Diaz Ayuso, the president of Madrid, used X (formerly Twitter) to express support for a singer, claiming the real victims are the women in Iran and criticizing what she called the ‘ultra-left’s complicit silence’ regarding the situation there.

The Community of Madrid will always support artists, and especially Julio Iglesias, one of the world’s most renowned singers. They will never do anything to harm his reputation.

The Daily Mail has contacted Julio Iglesias’ representatives for comment.
