Julianne Hough DEFENDS bizarre exorcism-like ‘energetic treatment’ after widespread ridicule
As a lifestyle expert with over two decades of experience in wellness and personal growth, I have always been intrigued by unconventional practices that promise to elevate one’s spiritual and emotional well-being. Julianne Hough’s energetic treatment session is just such an example – a unique blend of energy healing and movement therapy that has captured the attention of many.
Julianne Hough defended her bizarre ‘energetic treatment’ years after a video of it went viral.
36-year-old former contestant on Dancing with the Stars expressed her opinion that energy healing, initially met with criticism in a 2020 video, is now more broadly accepted, having been compared to an exorcism at the time.
On Monday’s Off the Vine podcast with Kaitlyn Bristowe, the actress started by saying, “I’ve had some unusual experiences that some people might call supernatural, and I’ve often encountered skepticism, with people responding, ‘She seems to have strayed from reality.'”
I conducted an energy work session, which subsequently became a popular topic, with many commenting, “It seems she harbors spirits and is a modern-day exorcist,…” This observation was made nearly five years back.
Currently, it’s become significantly easier for people to grasp the situation at hand, and they recognize the crucial role that energy plays.

Back in January 2020, Julianne left fans amazed as a video showing her undergoing ‘energy therapy’ with celebrity-backed healer John Amaral spread like wildfire on social networks.
In a massage table, Amaral asked Hough to assume a prone position to showcase how emotions trapped within can be alleviated via motion. The outcome left everyone speechless.
In the video, Amaral moves his hands above Hough, causing her body to undulate in a wave-like motion. The dancer is noticeable for thrusting her hips upward and curving her spine.
‘This is spontaneous,’ the chiropractor insists. ‘It’s not a placebo effect. It’s reproducible.’
According to Amaral, Hough’s system is releasing and dispersing accumulated energy – ‘making it more flexible and ready for change.’
As spectators are left bewildered, believing nothing could be more bizarre, he pantomimes removing an object from the dancer’s rear end, causing her to shriek in alarm.
He says, as Hough’s body jolts and quivers upon the table before him, ‘Emotions can be shown when a system is in motion.’
In much the same way, once the demonstration concluded, a cheerful Hough emerged to converse with the crowd, sharing that what they witnessed was an expression stemming from her internal feelings, or in other words, a retained emotional response.

She expresses that she feels significantly freer within, enabling her to articulate her honest feelings openly and confidently, without being dominated by emotions, thoughts, or any internal constraints. In essence, she’s experiencing a profound sense of self-liberation and authenticity.
Jackie Schimmel Haas, who hosts the “B**h Bible” podcast, posted an unusual video on Instagram with the comment: “I’ll tell my children this is the scene from The Exorcist.”
It’s not surprising that the video left quite a few people at a loss for words. For instance, Stassi Schroeder from Vanderpump Rules commented: “What on earth…”
‘What the literally f*ck is going on,’ asked Southern Charm star Naomie Olindo.
Heather McMahan humorously speculated, “Is he exorcising a demon from her behind? So many queries… I’m calling a priest,” as a joke.
To fans who follow Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop, Amaral might seem recognizable, since he appears in her latest Netflix series titled The Goop Lab.

In the series, Goop’s Chief Content Officer Elise Loehnen undergoes the same exorcism-style treatment that Hough went through.
In the latest episode of their podcast, Julianne acknowledged Paltrow for her bravery in dealing with criticisms regarding her spiritual or esoteric practices that are often met with skepticism.
‘I am so grateful for her,’ the Footloose alum shared.
She noted that when someone is trailblazing an idea and has the bravery to share it openly, they can undeniably face criticism or opposition. I must admit, I admire her for it.
