Julia Roberts’ nepo baby niece Emma compares offseason in the Hamptons to Stephen King’s The Shining

Emma Roberts likens the offseason in the Hamptons to the eerie atmosphere found in Stephen King’s renowned horror novel, The Shining.

For her most recent feature in Modern Luxury, the 34-year-old actress from Scream Queens, who has a hidden pastime, shared insights about the time she’s spent in the well-known coastal community, as part of an interview.

The star is frequently seen in the Hamptons, either at high-profile events or casually spending time there.

Emma, the niece of Julia Roberts, often reminisces about frequent trips she made to see her mother, Kelly Cunningham, who currently resides permanently in the Hamptons.

Approximately fifteen years ago, during the cold season, it felt similar to the eerie setting portrayed in ‘The Shining’ out here,” the actress explained to the media outlet.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I must admit that the allure of year-round summer has grown increasingly captivating for me. Over time, this perpetual sunshine has won my heart more and more – especially since becoming a parent. Through my son’s eyes, I now perceive the Hamptons in an entirely new, enchanting way. The magic that he sees in every corner of this picturesque landscape never ceases to amaze me.

In the summertime, Emma spends time in the Hamptons with her son Rhodes, always having a selection of enjoyable reads on hand.

She co-parents a four-year-old child with her former partner, actor Garrett Hedlund, who they dated between 2019 and their separation in 2022. Currently, Roberts is betrothed to another actor named Cody John.

She shared that Sagg Main Beach holds a special place in her heart, becoming a regular part of her summer activities. Every day, she would drop her son off at camp and then retreat to the beach with a good book, enjoying some quiet time alone for an hour or so. As far as she’s concerned, there’s nothing quite like it.

Roberts sounded enthused about the people and ‘community’ in the Hamptons during her conversation.

She confessed that living out here seems more like a communal lifestyle, and for her, that’s incredibly motivating. It stirs up a desire within her to read more books and experiment with cooking more.

For quite some time, Emma has been deeply passionate about reading, and back in 2017, she teamed up with her friend Karah Preiss to establish a literary club known as Belletrist.

This past week, she attended the joint event by Avaline and Stella McCartney held in East Hampton.

The mother of one chose an appropriate outfit for the event, donning a white halter mini-dress and matching white shoes with thick heels.

Her hair, a warm red shade, was neatly divided down the middle, cascading gracefully beyond her shoulders in gentle ripples.

And last month in June, Emma put on a stylish display in Montauk, which borders the Hamptons.

She wore a stylish black, sleeveless dress, complete with a trendy belt at the waist, during her visit to the Michael Kors x Montauk Yacht Club event.

Apart from basking in the summer ambiance of the Hamptons, she’s hiding a few interesting endeavors under her hat, such as the forthcoming romantic comedy “Marriage Material,” where comedian Matt Rife will also be seen, as reported by Variety.

The film, titled “Marriage Material,” was created by BuzzFeed Studios, as confirmed by their studio president, Richard Alan Reid, in May. According to him, this movie offers a fresh and hilariously funny take on romance, coupled with an unmissable emotional depth.

In his words, Emma and Matt make up a hilarious pair that people everywhere can appreciate. He’s thrilled about their collaboration with Capstone Studios and feels confident that the show ‘Marriage Material,’ with its witty humor, endearing allure, and fresh take on love, is destined to win hearts globally.

Last year, she also appeared in the 12th season of American Horror Story alongside Kim Kardashian.

Emma shared with Modern Luxury that working alongside Kim was an absolute blast, as they had known each other since their childhood days in Calabasas.

As a die-hard enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement! I’m talking about none other than those two stars who have taken their collaboration to new heights with the upcoming Netflix series, Calabasas. And here’s the best part: they’re not just acting but are also serving as executive producers for this project, according to Deadline.

Roberts mentioned that this situation took us to another project we’re working on, which is a TV series titled Calabasas. It’s inspired by the memoir ‘If You Lived Here You’d Be Famous by Now’. Excitingly, we’re collaborating with Netflix to bring this show to life, making it a truly enjoyable experience.

During a chat with Elle magazine in February, Emma emphasized the significance of maintaining balance while navigating her career in the entertainment world.

It’s crucial to maintain a life beyond your job, engaging in activities unrelated to work such as reading or having new experiences. I believe this not only improves your overall well-being but also enhances your work performance when you return to it.

The star added, ‘I really try to give my personal life as much love as my work life.

In her view, although it might be convenient to detach oneself from everyday life for professional reasons, that’s when difficulties can arise, as disconnecting too much from reality may lead to problems.

Meanwhile, as she cherishes motherhood with her son Rhodes (who celebrates his fifth birthday in December), Emma also emphasized the importance of personal care.

She mentioned that taking care of herself means disconnecting from electronic devices. She enjoys spending quality time with her son, such as bath and bedtime rituals. Afterward, she sets aside some personal time, often indulging in a facial mask and reading a good book.
