Julia Roberts makes a surprise appearance on Comic Relief during cameo-filled Red Nose Day film

Julia Roberts made a surprise appearance on Comic Relief during a cameo-filled Red Nose Day film.

The yearly charity telethon was back on Friday, featuring a lineup of celebrities performing comedy sketches to raise money.

Fifty-eight-year-old actress Julia Roberts appeared in a sketch with Catherine Tate as part of a charity event held at MediaCity in Salford.

Catherine Tyldesley, playing her famous character Nan, surprised the audience on the show by announcing she’d brought some ‘big stars.’ Then, a lineup of well-known celebrities appeared on the screen.

I was so thrilled to hear Julia say she’d absolutely be on Red Nose Day! She was replying to her nan’s lovely offer, and she sounded so excited, promising to be there as quickly as possible. It made my day!

The actress was joined on stage by several famous guests, including Sir Ian McKellen, Bryan Cranston, Samuel L. Jackson, and Gordon Ramsay.

The show also included appearances by a diverse group of stars like Vanessa Williams, Rio Ferdinand, Dame Anna Wintour, Jack Whitehall, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Lord Alan Sugar, Olivia Dean, and Daniel Craig.

Julia has participated in this charity fundraiser before, including a video appearance in 2024, so this isn’t her first time contributing.

Red Nose Day raises money for organizations that support people facing homelessness, poverty, and mental health challenges, both in the UK and around the world.

Greg James was overjoyed to discover he’d raised £2.8 million for Comic Relief during his bike challenge, and this happened just before he finished in Edinburgh.

Greg James, the host of Radio 1’s Breakfast Show, is undertaking a challenging 1000km bike ride over eight days – and he’s doing it on a tandem! He’s been receiving encouraging visits from family and friends throughout the journey, including a surprise appearance by Prince William earlier this week.

On Friday morning, Greg began the last leg of his cycling journey in Galashiels, Scotland, having already raised £2.5 million.

A little over an hour into his ride, Greg paused for a break in North Middleton, Midlothian, only 16 miles from Edinburgh, where he was headed.

While taking a break during the race, Greg chatted with radio personality Matt Edmonson, who announced they had now raised a total of £2,823,694.

Greg shouted with excitement, “2.8 million! YESSS!” He continued, “Wow, things are really taking off! It’s almost ridiculous, but in a good way. It’s fun when things are a little silly, isn’t it?”

Let’s continue this playful activity and aim for three rounds. We’re doing it in honor of Arthur, and to make him comfortable in his chair.

Greg started the segment by explaining he’d requested a large, playful donation be made to Comic Relief at the end of the day. He then asked how much money had been raised so far and encouraged them to check.

‘Okay so when we last had a total it was £2.5million, which is crazy,’ Matt said.

Matt continued, saying, ‘We’ve only been broadcasting for just over an hour. Let’s see what our current total is…’

Greg excitedly shouted when he saw the full amount of £2.8 million, then got ready to complete the course.
