Julia Morris lashes out at Home and Away star Lynne McGranger over soap star’s dig at Robert Irwin: ‘Not appropriate’
As a dedicated follower of Australian television and a long-time observer of the entertainment industry, I have seen many talented individuals rise to fame over the years. Lynne McGranger‘s recent comment about Robert Irwin’s Gold Logie nomination has left me feeling dismayed and disappointed.
Comedian Julia Morris has criticized Lynne McGranger following McGrander’s contentious remark concerning Robert Irwin’s nomination for the Gold Logie Award.
The 71-year-old actress with long acting career made a playful jibe at Robert during the nominations, mocking his limited background in TV.
Robert faces competition from television veterans Julia, Larry Emdur, Sonia Kruger, Asher Keddie, Andy Lee, and Tony Armstrong. It came as a shock to Lynne that Robert was among the contenders as well.
“Apologies, but Irwin has been on TV for quite some time now! I mean no disrespect as I’m promoting my friend Larry here.”
Julia spoke up for her I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! colleague who is 20 years old, labeling the remark as unsuitable.
She allowed Lynne to promote her colleague’s campaign, but cautioned against undermining a rising talent like Robert in the process.
‘I understand that people aren’t exposed to people from other networks very often.’ Julia said.
In my perspective, Lynne’s affection for Larry is quite evident to many. People often remark, “Larry truly deserves it, given his long-standing presence among us.”
She continued: ‘Well, my answer to that is, everybody deserves it on that list.
In simpler terms, Lynne understands the desire to shield and defend a cherished person, but it’s inappropriate to criticize others in the process. Lynne herself is aware of this.
In my opinion, Lynne is more experienced and knowledgeable than to make such a mistake. Despite being an exceptional woman with a lengthy career in the industry and remarkable acting skills, her deep-rooted enthusiasm for having Larry involved might be driving this decision.
I’ve come across many news articles, but one that particularly caught my attention was about Lynne’s hilarious Instagram post shared by her friend Larry. At 59 years old, Larry has lived a rich and full life, filled with countless experiences and adventures. His latest anecdote, which he decided to share with the world on social media, involved a playful exchange with his longtime friend Lynne following her nomination for an award. The way he described their interaction left me chuckling, and I couldn’t help but feel envious of the strong bond they share. It just goes to show that even in the midst of accomplishments and milestones, there’s always room for a little laughter and camaraderie with friends.
I’ve had the pleasure of observing people sharing exciting news on social media, and one experience that comes to mind is when a friend of mine received a nomination for an award. He was thrilled and wanted to share the good news with his online community. To add a bit of humor and light-heartedness to his post, he included a screenshot of the text message where his friend had congratulated him, but with a twist. Instead of just leaving it at that, he added a caption mentioning that he would be ‘voting for Robert Irwin’. This playful comment was likely in reference to someone else, possibly another nominee or a well-known figure named Robert Irwin, demonstrating his sense of humor and keeping the mood light amidst the excitement. It’s always fascinating to see how people express themselves online and add their unique touch to important moments in their lives.
I can’t help but feel elated and grateful, as I pen this down, to be surrounded by such amazingly encouraging companions in the midst of my fierce Logies competition. Larry’s light-hearted remark about being fortunate enough to have friends like us truly resonated with me, and Lynne’s affirming comment in response only added fuel to my determination to win. What a blessing it is to have your unwavering support!
Robert, who has recently started his television career in the mainstream industry, is also competing for the Bert Newton Award for the Most Popular Presenter.
He faces competition from Julia, Larry, Sonia, Tony, and Hamish Blake once more in the same group.
As an obsessed fan, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming 64th annual Logie Awards! I’ll be there, living every moment as if it were my own show. The brilliant Sam Pang will grace us with his presence as our host in Sydney on August 18. It’s going to be an unforgettable night filled with laughter, tears, and the very best of Australian television. Can’t wait!
This year, the event will be broadcast on Channel 7.
