Julia Fox wigs out after changing her signature look and reflects on ‘horrible’ breakup from Kanye West
In New York City on Monday, Julia Fox demonstrated that she was capable of setting aside her flamboyant, attention-grabbing appearance momentarily, adopting a more conventional, understated style for the promotion of her latest film, “The Trainer.
In February 2024, the 35-year-old ex-domatrix started lightening her original dark brown hair until it disappeared completely, which resulted in a badly damaged pixie cut. She didn’t stop bleaching her eyebrows until last month, a practice she had been following since 2023.
In a mesh tube gown designed by Jean Paul Gaultier for the spring of 1997, Julia showcased her shoulders adorned with an old-Hollywood pattern. She paired this dress with brown knee-high boots and a bag in a darker shade, both chosen by her best friend and stylist, Briana Andalore.
Hairstylist John Novotny coiffed Fox’s waist-length brunette wig, which was parted in the middle.
The woman who was born in Milan and raised in Manhattan, known for causing controversy, had a hairstyle that strongly resembled her dark brown hair from the time she briefly dated designer-rapper Kanye West (also known as Ye) in early 2022.
In her initial interview on CBS Mornings that day, Julia pondered over the well-known separation that occurred prior to her role in The Trainer, sharing the screen with writer-star Vito Schnabel.
During that period, I was dealing with quite a bit. I had just gone through a high-profile split, which was truly tough on me, as Fox explained to Gayle King.
‘I yearned for the chance to leave my current self behind and step into someone else at work. She was someone I admired greatly. In many ways, she and I share similar experiences of feeling underestimated, not taken seriously, or simply ignored. This resonated with me deeply.’
‘And I feel like that’s why our characters kind of just, like, had this unique love story.’
As a devoted follower, I assume the role of Bee Luciani, the ravenous assistant to the renowned trainer Jack Flex (Schnabel), in Tony Kaye’s forthcoming punk Marvel production titled “The Trainer.” Despite generating buzz at both the Rome and Tribeca film festivals, this groundbreaking project is still seeking US distribution.
On Monday evening, for the premiere of the popular comedy at the Village East by Angelika, Julia switched to a shorter black wig with a spit curl, a white babydoll-style minidress, and matching platform shoes.
