Julia Fox defends blood-soaked Jackie Kennedy costume amid intense backlash

Julia Fox explained her controversial, blood-covered Jackie Kennedy costume on Friday, responding to strong criticism she received.

As a style enthusiast, I was so moved by the actress’s choice to recreate that iconic look – the one worn by the Former First Lady on such a tragic day. She shared that it was her way of paying tribute to an incredible woman and acknowledging her remarkable courage in the face of unimaginable hardship. It really spoke to me as a powerful statement about strength and resilience.

Julia turned heads at The Cursed Amulet’s Halloween party in New York City on Thursday when she wore a pink suit strikingly similar to the one Jackie Kennedy famously wore the day President Kennedy was assassinated.

As history recalls, the First Lady famously refused to change her bloodstained clothing, telling an aide who suggested she do so, ‘No. Let them see what they’ve done to Jack.’

Fans and Jack Schlossberg, JFK’s grandson, strongly criticized Julia’s portrayal, calling it insensitive and inappropriate.

Julia explained on Instagram that her outfit – a pink suit reminiscent of Jackie Kennedy – wasn’t a costume, but a deliberate choice with meaning behind it.

She recounted that when her husband was killed, the widow refused to change her blood-covered clothes, declaring she wanted everyone to witness the consequences of the act.

The striking contrast of the pale pink suit covered in blood remains one of the most disturbing images of our time. It powerfully combines beauty with terror, and grace with utter destruction.

Choosing not to change her clothes, despite being asked to, took incredible courage. It was a powerful statement that expressed both grief and defiance, functioning as a performance and a protest all in one.

This is a story about a woman using her public image and poise to reveal harsh truths. It explores the impact of trauma, the dynamics of power, and how embracing femininity can be an act of defiance. Here’s to Jackie Kennedy Onassis – a lasting symbol of strength.

The pink suit Jackie Kennedy wore – created by designer Oleg Cassini – was never cleaned after President Kennedy’s assassination and still bears his bloodstains.

According to reports, Jackie Kennedy’s housekeeper, Providencia Paredes, put the suit in a bag after the First Lady came back to the White House following the tragic events.

It’s now preserved by the National Archives in Maryland, locked away from public view until 2103.

The 2023 documentary, JFK: One Day in America, retold the heartbreaking story of Jackie Kennedy’s pink suit. Secret Service agent Clint Hill, who was assigned to protect her, shared his chilling account of what happened immediately after the shots were fired in Dallas.

He explained that he ran to the back of the car. Mrs. Kennedy was shouting, ‘I love Jack,’ but he couldn’t reach her in time.

Jackie held her husband as he died in the car, and his blood stained her pink suit.

According to PBS, Lady Bird Johnson recounted the frightening experience in her diary, writing that when their motorcade stopped – they were in the third car – Secret Service agents immediately started quickly moving her and the President to safety.

I glanced back one last time and saw a splash of pink in the back of the president’s car – it was Mrs. Kennedy, draped over President Kennedy’s body, resembling a scattering of blossoms.

At Parkland Hospital, Jackie was given fresh clothes, but she declined to change, only wanting to wash her face.

A moment later, Jackie realized she regretted washing the blood from her face. As she told Life magazine, she wished she’d left it there, as a visible sign of what had happened.
