Jujutsu Kaisen quickly became a fan favorite among shonen manga in the 2020s. The release of its first sequel, JJK Modulo, in 2025 ushered in a new chapter for Gege Akutami’s series. Following mixed reactions to the original JJK‘s ending, Modulo offered a chance to revisit the world of jujutsu sorcery with a fresh perspective.
JJK Modulo provides answers to questions raised in the original series, but it also introduces new ones. True to Gege Akutami’s style, the ending is open to many different interpretations, leaving plenty unresolved.
What Did Yuji Itadori & Iori Okkotsu Talk About?
The ending of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo leaves several storylines hanging, and the introduction of Iori Okkotsu is one of the most puzzling. We see Iori, the son of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin, talking to Yuji Itadori sometime in the past, but we never hear what they say. Soon after, Iori vanishes, and he remains missing by the time the events of JJK Modulo take place.
It seems like Iori was telling Yuta and Maki’s son not to worry about the current generation of sorcerers being weaker. But this doesn’t explain why Iori disappeared, so we’ll likely learn more about what was bothering him in future chapters.
How Strong Was Daru?
JJK Modulo features the Simurians, a group of aliens, and introduces the charming twins, Maru and Cross. The story includes flashbacks to their childhood, with many scenes focusing on their relationship with a paternal figure named Daru.
Daru was once considered as strong as Dabura when they were young, and he helped train Maru, Cross, and Dabura as they grew up. Knowing how powerful those three have become, it makes you wonder just how strong Daru used to be at his peak.
What Happened to Megumi Fushiguro?
A highlight of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is that it continues the stories of beloved characters from the original series. We see Yuji Itadori, Nobara Kugisaki, Yuta Okkotsu, and Maki Zenin featured in Modulo, and many other characters are either named or make quick appearances, offering a sense of resolution for their storylines. However, this isn’t the case for Megumi Fushiguro, whose arc remains unresolved.
I’m really into JJK Modulo, and it’s great to see Yuji and Nobara back! But it’s so strange that Megumi Fushiguro isn’t around. They do mention him by name once, right at the end, but that’s it. It definitely feels like they’re hinting he didn’t make it through everything that happened, and honestly, it just leaves me with so many questions about how and why!
Where Is Sukuna’s Final Finger?
When the new season of Jujutsu Kaisen started, many fans wondered if Ryomen Sukuna would reappear. Because one of his fingers still exists, it seemed likely that the sequel would focus on what remained of the powerful curse.
Okay, so after following JJK Modulo for 25 chapters across three volumes, it’s become pretty obvious Sukuna’s finger just wasn’t going to be a factor. Honestly, the villain himself is only named a few times, and his remaining finger never even gets a mention! I’m starting to think Yuji might have gotten rid of it somehow, but I’d really love to get some confirmation either way – it’s been bugging me!
Why Is Jujutsu Sorcery So Similar to Alien Combat?
Honestly, when the Simurians showed up on Earth, what really blew my mind was how seamlessly they fit into the jujutsu world! You’ve got cursed spirits, powerful shikigami, and all these incredible sorcerers, and these Simurians – they’re humanoid, so not that strange at first glance. But then you see them fight, and their techniques are so similar to jujutsu, it’s almost eerie! They just… blended in, and that was the really fascinating part.
While the new characters in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo thankfully fit well with the existing fighting styles, it’s surprising how much the alien Simurians resemble Earth’s jujutsu sorcerers. Both groups use Cursed Energy and share remarkably similar bodies. This strong connection raises a big question: why are humans so alike a species from another world?
How Do Dabura’s Abilities Work?
Among the new characters in JJK Modulo, Dabura stands out as the most powerful. He spends a large part of the story fighting Mahoraga, which is especially impressive considering Mahoraga’s ability to adapt to any attack. Even after their long battle, though, many of Dabura’s powers are still a mystery, so his full potential remains a topic of discussion.
Dabura hints that his special ability manipulates darkness instead of light, but we never actually see him use it. The same happens with his powerful Domain Expansion – it’s shown for a moment, but then the scene cuts away. Most frustratingly, Dabura never demonstrates his main Cursed Technique, which makes his lengthy battle with the Ten Shadows’ secret weapon seem a little unclear when you look back on it.
Are Miyaguni and Usami Related to Any JJK Characters?
While Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo includes many references to the original Jujutsu Kaisen, some connections are more subtle. For example, characters like Kou Usami and Chiharu Miyaguni appear, and their significance isn’t immediately obvious.
Usami shares a Cursed Technique with Toge Inumaki and has the same name as a minor, largely unknown character from the original Jujutsu Kaisen. Miyaguni visually resembles other characters in the series and seems to age slower than normal, leading to speculation that she might be Yuji Itadori’s daughter. It would be helpful to confirm these connections to better understand what’s happened in the years since Sukuna was defeated.
What Is Yuji Itadori’s Domain Expansion?
The climax of Jujutsu Kaisen features Yuji Itadori finally using his powerful Domain Expansion, which gives him an edge in the fight against the King of Curses. However, the way this ability is shown in the series is confusing, leaving many details unclear. That’s why fans were excited about JJK Modulo, hoping it would explain how Itadori’s Domain Expansion actually works.
Yuji Itadori doesn’t appear in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. Because he’s so strong, he doesn’t need to use his most powerful ability, his Domain Expansion, against anyone. Currently, details about Itadori’s Domain Expansion haven’t been revealed in the series itself, and may only be found in supplementary materials like guidebooks.
What Is Aoi Todo Doing?
By the end of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji Itadori knows a lot of people, but Aoi Todo is one of his most consistently loyal friends. Todo is an important character in the first part of the story, but he doesn’t appear at all during the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo arc.
A subtle comment from Yuji Itadori suggests that Todo is still alive when the sequel to JJK begins. While the story hints at what’s happening with characters like Kinji Hakari, it doesn’t mention anything about Todo’s life after the events of Jujutsu Kaisen. Given his unique personality, it’s likely there are some interesting adventures Todo experiences between the two stories.
Why Does Kyoko Tomoe Turn Around in JJK Modulo’s Final Panel?
The Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo arc ties up several plot threads, but finishes with a major cliffhanger. After most of the story’s conflicts are settled, Yuka Okkotsu and chef Kyoko Tomoe are having a meal when they’re unexpectedly startled by someone entering the room behind them.
The way this character enters – the sound is identical to when he first met Kyoko – strongly suggests it’s Dabura returning from his journey to Simuria. While we can’t be certain, it’s a curious choice to end the story with this unresolved. Given how many questions the sequel leaves unanswered, it seems appropriate that the story concludes by adding yet another mystery.
