As a seasoned movie-goer and armchair lawyer with a penchant for courtroom dramas, I can’t help but find myself deeply immersed in the unfolding saga of Judge Greg Mathis. The allegations made by Ricardo Acosta against Mathis are indeed troubling, to say the least. If proven true, they paint a picture of a man who has seemingly lost his cool and resorted to threats and intimidation.
A resident of Los Angeles is preparing to file a lawsuit against ex-reality TV judge Greg Mathis, claiming he made a threat to shoot him when the individual was performing municipal duties near Mathis’ residence.
A lawyer acting on behalf of Ricardo Acosta has drafted, but not yet submitted, a lawsuit claiming that Mathis physically attacked Acosta and caused emotional distress during an intense argument on July 25, 2023. The complaint states that at the time, Acosta was employed by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, when Mathis angrily reprimanded him for obstructing his driveway with a city garbage truck and menaced him with a firearm.
Mathis’ lawyer, Anahita Sedaghatfar, discarded the lawsuit as an effort to blackmail their client, stating that it provided a false account of the events that transpired.

Television
As a devoted cinematic enthusiast, I find myself sharing the news that Mrs. Linda Yvette Mathis, the wife of renowned TV-court personality Judge Greg Mathis, has decided to file for divorce, marking an end to their near four-decade long union.
“She stated that since the LAPD didn’t look into Mr. Acosta’s allegations, it suggests they were unwarranted.
As stated in the complaint, Mathis exclaimed, “Clear the path, you blasted vehicle!” with Acosta’s truck right before him. Upon this, Acosta requested Mathis to step aside so he could maneuver his truck backwards, as it was on a slope and he feared it might roll if shifted into drive, the complaint adds.
According to the complaint, Mathis flatly refused and uttered something along the lines of “I couldn’t care less,” followed by a threat to see what would happen if they ran him over. The complaint further alleges that Mathis later emerged from his home with a firearm and stated, “I’m going to shoot you,” which is street vernacular for intending to harm someone by firing a gun at them.
According to Acosta, this event led to both emotional and financial harm. He needed medical care, and he also hired a lawyer.
He’s aiming to recover compensation for his missed salary, income, commission, pension, and various job-related benefits, in addition to damages for psychological suffering, emotional turmoil, and potential future income losses due to reduced earning ability.
Mathis served as the leading figure on the arbitration-style reality court program “Judge Mathis,” lasting an impressive 24 seasons from September 13, 1999, until May 25, 2023.
