Judd is retiring in 911: Lone Star Season 5 (but what's next?)

As a dedicated fan who’s been following the emotional rollercoaster that is “911: Lone Star,” I can’t help but feel a pang of sadness as Judd Ryder prepares to hang up his boots. The man has been the heart and soul of the 126, and his retirement feels like the end of an era.

In the last season of “911: Lone Star,” some significant transformations are in store. Among these, you’ll notice that Firehouse 126 will be missing its lieutenant. The character Judd Rydell has decided to hang up his boots and retire.

At the culmination of Season 4 of “911: Lone Star”, the issue of Judd’s decision arose. His son Wyatt had become paralyzed following a motorcycle mishap, leaving Judd with a significant life crossroads. Should he seek assistance for his son, or shoulder the burden himself? If he opted for the latter, it would necessitate an early retirement from the fire department.

Instead, he’ll carry out those actions, but without Grace by his side since Sierra McClain won’t be rejoining us for the final season.

Judd will feel isolated in 911: Lone Star Season 5

TVLine provides a sneak peek into future developments for several characters. Among them, it’s confirmed that Judd will be stepping down from the 126. As Grace has departed and Wyatt now works as a 911 dispatcher, Judd may find himself feeling quite lonely or disconnected.

He’ll have to face some uncomfortable feelings. Could these be linked to why Grace is gone?

Currently, we’re unsure of Grace’s whereabouts, as Showrunner Rashad Raisani hasn’t disclosed whether Grace is leaving Judd or not. However, he mentioned that the writers have taken steps to safeguard her character, which could imply Grace may be departing from Judd, but this seems out of character for Grace. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and find out what happens next.

Due to current circumstances, Judd may have to confront some “awkward emotions,” which he’s been avoiding acknowledging within himself. Perhaps these emotions stem from feelings of guilt about his retirement, or perhaps they arise from a sense of disorientation now that Grace is absent.

Could Judd return to the 126 in 911: Lone Star Season 5?

It’ll be intriguing to find out how long Wyatt’s retirement will last, considering his ability to work. If this continues, Judd might come to understand that he wasn’t as indispensable as he thought. This realization could prompt him to reconsider his retirement and consider going back to work instead.

As Paul and Marjan vie for the lieutenant position, there’s a possibility things may turn out futile. It’s plausible that Judd might inquire about rejoining the team.

911: Lone Star Season 5 premieres on Monday, Sept. 23 at 8/7c on Fox.
