The forthcoming musical rendition of Charles Dickens’ classic story, “A Christmas Carol,” titled “Christmas Karma,” is set to premiere in movie theaters throughout the UK and Ireland on November 14th.
Directed by Gurinder Chadha, the filmmaker known for popular movies such as Bend It Like Beckham (2002) and Bride and Prejudice (2004), this production is being hailed as a “vibrant and lively musical tribute to modern-day Britain”.
Under the guidance of Kunal Nayyar, known for his role in “The Big Bang Theory”, the actor assumes the character of Mr. Sood – a contemporary take on Ebenezer Scrooge. This updated version embarks on an enlightening journey of self-exploration upon meeting the three Spirits of Christmas.
Completing the ensemble, Eva Longoria, Billy Porter, and Boy George take on the roles of the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. Additionally, Hugh Bonneville, Leo Suter, Pixie Lott, Charithra Chandran, and Danny Dyer are set to make appearances as well.
I can’t wait for the soundtrack of ‘Christmas Karma’, featuring tunes from Gary Barlow (Take That), Nitin Sawhney, Shaznay Lewis, Ben Cullum, Panjabi MC, and Malkit Singh. The diversity in their music will surely make this Christmas even more magical!
Before the release of the film, Chadha expressed that similar to how he has long appreciated Frank Capra’s “It’s a Wonderful Life,” his intention with “Christmas Karma” was to produce a heartwarming holiday classic that would resonate in our current times and endure for future generations as well.
I am absolutely thrilled to collaborate with executive producer Zygi Kamasa, who has been backing me since the very beginning of this film project, and True Brit, a production that honors the essence of British cinema,” she added further.

Nayyar has hinted at what’s yet to unfold, expressing: “Delving into a cherished holiday story using the perspective of an immigrant experience (much like mine) is precisely the type of film that I think will strike a chord with many who are seeking the essence of home. It requires a visionary like Gurinder to back such a tale, and I feel privileged to be involved.
Christmas Karma will land in cinemas on 14 November across the UK & Ireland.
