Fans were surprised Monday night when Joshua Jackson and Busy Philipps kissed during a live reunion of the show *Dawson’s Creek*. The moment came over twenty years after their characters first had a romance on the popular teen drama.
Joshua Jackson, 47, famous for playing Pacey Witter, and Katie Holmes, 45, who joined the show as Audrey Liddell, surprised and thrilled the audience at a recent performance in New York City with a very passionate kiss on stage.
Originally, Joshua Phillips was cast as Joey’s college roommate and Pacey’s girlfriend. However, for the show’s reunion, he played a surprising new character: Tamara Jacobs, Pacey’s former-and scandalous-high school English teacher.
In a recreation of a famously debated plotline, the actor playing his character provocatively hinted at a forbidden attraction, saying, ‘You imagine what it would be like with that young man, to feel desirable. Let me be clear: you missed your chance, because I’m the best you’ll ever experience.’
In a now-iconic moment, Philipps famously told Pacey, ‘You’re wrong about one thing, Pacey. You’re not a boy,’ and then passionately kissed him, leaving viewers stunned and overjoyed.
Social media lit up instantly, and one fan perfectly captured the feeling, calling it ‘every millennial’s dream.’

Holly Willoughby confessed her family wasn’t overly enthusiastic about her performance, playfully sharing on Instagram that her kids in the audience weren’t exactly impressed.
The highlight of the evening, a nostalgic reunion with Katie Holmes and Michelle Williams for a reading of their old pilot script, was a kiss shared between Jackson and one of his former co-stars.
The event raised money for James Van Der Beek’s F Cancer organization, supporting him as he fights stage 3 colon cancer.
James Van Der Beek couldn’t be there in person due to illness, so he introduced the performance through a video message. Lin-Manuel Miranda stepped in to read Van Der Beek’s lines instead.
James, known for his role as Dawson Leery in the teen drama, said he’d been eagerly anticipating this night for months, ever since Michelle Williams told him she was planning it. He shared this in a video.
I’m so disappointed I couldn’t be there. I really miss seeing everyone from the show in person – my wonderful castmates.
Even director Steven Spielberg made a quick, unexpected appearance, sending a video message to Dawson and jokingly saying he’d love to hang out in Dawson’s iconic closet someday.
Dawson’s Creek was a popular TV show that ran on The WB network from 1998 to 2003. It won several awards, including a Teen Choice Award for best drama series in 2000.

The show followed the group from high school through college in the sleepy town of Capeside.
Last year in November, James revealed his stage three colorectal cancer diagnosis.
The actor revealed he had been quietly managing a health issue and working towards a solution, with the help of his family and friends.
‘I have colorectal cancer. There’s reason for optimism, and I’m feeling good,’ he told People.
A few months prior, in July, the celebrity shared news about their fight against cancer during an interview on the Today show.
He shared that he’s been prioritizing his health by eating better and practicing yoga.
I’m learning to embrace a slower pace, making rest a priority, and accepting that’s enough for now. I’m simply focusing on the process, not just the outcome.
The Hollywood actor added: ‘it’s a process. It’ll probably be a process for the rest of my life.’

In March, the actor revealed he’s been battling cancer, sharing the news with fans on his 48th birthday and describing the past year as the most difficult of his life.
In a clip titled ‘What Cancer Taught Me,’ the former ‘Dawson’s Creek’ star shared how facing a life-threatening illness helped him understand himself better and change his perspective.
He explained that being separated from his family for medical care and living by himself made him confront his own mortality.
While thinking about who he was, the actor who voices Vampirina wondered, “If I’m just a thin, frail man, alone in my apartment and battling cancer, then what’s the point of my existence?”
The actor, known for his role in Downsizing, explained he was pondering why his career seemed to be slowing down, and he eventually came to a realization about it.
He realized that just by existing, he deserved God’s love. He then wondered, if he was worthy of God’s love, shouldn’t he also be kind to himself and believe he was worthy of love too?
The actor from Varsity Blues then urged viewers to apply the message to their own lives, no matter what they believe.
