Joshua Jackson ‘compared to a Disney VILLAIN’ by ex Jodie Turner-Smith in cryptic post amid child custody battle

This week, the relationship between former partners Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith seemed to deteriorate even more when she seemed to liken him to a Disney antagonist in her statements.

In October 2023, the actor who played Dawson’s Creek, Jackson (aged 46), and British actress and model Turner-Smith parted ways. Their relationship started in 2018, and they had a child, Juno (now aged 5) together.

Following a new turn in their custody dispute, the actress from Queen & Slim shared a mysterious Instagram post on Monday that showcased various Disney characters initially perceived as kind, but later proved to be villains.

We have attempted to contact representatives for both Jackson and Turner-Smith, however, we haven’t received a response yet.

The article follows a contentious chapter in the custody battle between the ex-partners regarding their child, which became quite unpleasant.

Based on documents acquired by E! News, it appears that Jackson has submitted a motion and urgent appeal for modifying the current custody arrangement.

In the court filing on May 30, Jackson argues that Turner-Smith enrolled their five-year-old daughter in kindergarten at a school without Jackson’s consent, and this school is beyond the 45-minute commute limit from his home, which was a condition they had previously settled upon.

Based on court papers acquired by People, Jackson alleges that Turner-Smith stated it was unimportant or insignificant for Juno to have to begin anew at a different school.

According to the documents acquired by E!, Jackson claimed that Jodie-Turner communicated to him via text that their daughter doesn’t necessitate a specific place for her education. Instead, they discussed the possibility of tutoring and distance learning as alternatives.

He’s equally concerned that Jodie might be trying to arrange for Juno to accompany her instead of sending Juno to a conventional school, as opposed to her traveling alone.

Jackson additionally shared his personal experience of being home-schooled as a child actor by on-set tutors, which he pointed out, could never fully replace the benefits of a traditional classroom setting such as nurturing, enrichment, peer relationships, and social skills that only a school community can offer.

In simpler terms, the actor (the father) is petitioning the court to compel his daughter to continue her education at the same school for the upcoming school year.

He is also seeking joint consent with Turner-Smith for any future school changes.

Joshua said his daughter has been ‘flourishing’ at her current school, according to E!. 

He observed the various hardships Juno has encountered over the past few years, including the recent devastating loss of Jackson’s house in Topanga Canyon, which was tragically destroyed by the wildfires in Los Angeles.

Joshua said ‘adding an unnecessary school change cannot be in her interests.’

In 2018, Joshua and a well-known British actress or model started dating. They secretly tied the knot the next year, and in 2020, they were blessed with their first child, Juno.

In October 2023, Turner-Smith announced her decision to file for divorce, stating that their separation had occurred a month earlier.

Last month, they finalized their divorce, yet at that point, the decision about which school Juno should attend hadn’t been mutually decided.

According to records from past court proceedings (obtained by People), Turner-Smith declared that she would have the ultimate say in Juno’s educational choices come 2024.

The documents state that she was required to consult Jackson on the decision. 

As reported by TMZ in May 2025, the court-filed documents disclosed that Jackson is required to make a monthly child support payment of $2,787. However, he is not obligated to provide any form of monthly spousal support.

Additionally, Turner-Smith asked that Jackson cover her $75,000 legal expenses related to the dispute about which school their child would attend.

The famous actor, once married to his former spouse, sought the help of a mediator to establish a shared, temporary plan for their 50-50 custody arrangement over their daughter.

Turner-Smith apparently asked a judge to make sure a previous court decision was enforced, allowing her to transfer their child to a different school.

According to the documentation submitted by lawyer Laura Wasser, she disclosed that she had conducted research on the local elementary school, held discussions with Jackson about it, and ensured its proximity to his residence.

However, she claimed that he still does not want to move their daughter to the new school.

The pair have been in a legal battle since Turner-Smith filed for divorce two years ago.

She noted that their separation would occur in September 2023, mentioning ‘insurmountable disagreements’ as the basis for her filing.

After a few months, she finally spoke up about the divorce, revealing that she chose to file the papers to officially terminate their marriage.

She mentioned that she felt it was time to take action, as she believes we’ve both been left with obvious signs of the negative impacts of our past environments.

She said to The Sunday Times in February 2024 that their impacts aren’t limited to us; instead, they extend to everyone nearby.

After their separation, Jackson moved on to date actress Lupita Nyong’o, and more recently, he has been associated with German model Nastassja Roberts.

In October, Turner-Smith stated that she has moved past men following their divorce proceedings, happily embracing her single status and choosing not to prioritize dating for the time being.
