Josh Widdecombe splashes out £3million on Noel Edmonds’ old house

Josh Widdicombe has quit London to move into TV presenter Noel Edmonds‘ old house in Devon.

Comedian Alex Brooker, age 42, and his wife, Rose Hanson, also 42, who works as a producer, recently purchased a five-bedroom house in Exeter, Devon for £2.95 million. The house has a white exterior.

Last summer, the couple sold their London townhouse for £2.3 million. They wanted to raise their two children, seven-year-old Pearl and four-year-old Cassius, with more room to grow, and closer to Josh’s family home in Devon.

This beautiful, historically-protected home offers 7,500 square feet of living space, including five bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. There’s also a separate one-bedroom cottage on the property.

Inside, the house boasts a huge living room featuring a grand piano, soaring ceilings, and a cozy fireplace. There are also two additional sitting rooms, two home offices, a spacious 35-foot dining room, and a large kitchen with a breakfast area, all kept warm by an Aga stove.

This house, located on one of Exeter’s most prestigious streets, includes two offices, a gym, and a wine cellar.

TV personality Edmonds, age 76, bought the property in October 2006 for £1.36 million after his divorce from Helen Soby, while his game show, Deal or No Deal, was popular.

Noel made significant improvements to the house, but a legal dispute arose when a former friend sued him for unpaid construction work.

In court, Edmonds stated that Ulrik Lawson, the owner of a construction company, had agreed to oversee the renovations without charging any money.

Mr. Lawson stated he didn’t agree to the work being done under those conditions. He explained that as a construction professional, he couldn’t operate in such a manner.

Edmonds sold his house for over £2 million in August 2008. However, after losing a court case in 2011, he was required to pay his former friend £600,000, as well as cover the legal costs.

Widecombe has talked about his new home, which used to belong to the host of the 1990s TV show Noel’s House Party. The show was filmed at a mansion in the made-up village of Crinkley Bottom, and featured a popular character named Mr Blobby – a pink and yellow spotted creature.

On the Parenting Hell podcast, comedian Rob Widdicombe clarified to Rob Beckett that the location isn’t Crinkley Bottom – it’s not the house viewers would recognize from the old TV show.

Beckett jokingly offended him with a vulgar remark, claiming Noel Edmonds had previously used the house for sexual activity and left bodily fluids there.

The couple’s new home in Exeter is three times larger than their fully renovated five-story house in London’s Victoria Park, which they purchased for £1.9 million in 2017.

The couple owns a charming holiday home in Mullion, Cornwall, worth around £1 million. They carefully renovated it and now rent it out to visitors.

The couple shared updates about the renovations on Instagram. In one post, Rose explained that they hope to spend a lot of time in Cornwall, as Josh’s family lives nearby in Devon. When they aren’t using the property, they plan to rent it out, likely through a rental agency.

Rose shared that she takes the lead on home renovations, explaining, ‘He’s great at comedy, and I have a knack for interior design, so we each focus on what we’re best at.’

Photos of the remodel reveal that workers have completely redone the bathrooms and rearranged the interior layout. They also removed a damp, damaged conservatory and replaced it with a new garden room.

A former workshop is to be turned into a home gym for weightlifting fan Rose.

The renovations are preserving the beautiful original details of the Georgian house, such as its chandeliers, fireplace, and large bay windows.
