Josh O’Connor and Kristen Stewart replaced in new movie
As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for movies and their intricate narratives, I must say, the shift in casting for “Rosebush Pruning” has me slightly perplexed yet eagerly anticipating the final outcome. The film’s premise is undeniably captivating, and the new cast lineup certainly brings a fresh perspective to the table.
In the film “Rosebush Pruning”, original cast members Josh O’Connor and Kristen Stewart are no longer involved, instead being replaced by Callum Turner and Riley Keough.
Next year’s movie is inspired by Marco Bellochio’s 1965 Italian film titled “Fists in the Pocket.” This story revolves around a young man suffering from epilepsy, who plans to eliminate his own family members.
Under the direction of Karim Aïnouz, O’Connor and Stewart were initially intended to star in the movie, but recent updates reveal that Turner and Keough, famously recognized from ‘Masters of the Air’ and ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’, will now be taking over their roles instead.
The pair will team up with Elle Fanning, who was previously announced, as well as new cast members such as Jamie Bell, Lukas Gage, Tracy Letts, Elena Anaya, and Pamela Anderson. Efthimis Filippou, renowned for his work alongside Yorgos Lanthimos, will write the script.
Ainouz, the director of “Firebrand,” expressed his enthusiasm about an upcoming project, stating: “I can’t wait to breathe life into this bold and tantalizing script, which pushes boundaries on traditional family structures and patriarchy, with this exceptional group of actors whom I have long respected.
Marco Bellocchio’s groundbreaking first film, titled “Fists in the Pocket“, was launched more than five decades ago and made a significant mark on Italian cinema and narrative style during that period. I’m thrilled to be working with Efthimis to re-examine this influential piece of art, aiming to craft a modern allegory about the demise of the conventional patriarchal family structure.
I’m aiming for a piece that will equally move and stimulate the audience. It’s a joyous experience for me, collaborating with a talented group of actors whom I’ve respected for years, to present this intense adaptation to you all now.
O’Connor and Stewart are stepping away from the project “Rosebush Pruning“, but they have other exciting projects on the horizon. Specifically, O’Connor is expected to contribute to “Wake Up Dead Man“, which will be the third installment in the Knives Out series.
In a career that began with her breakout role as Bella Swan in the Twilight series and later earned her critical acclaim, Stewart has recently been seen in Love Lies Bleeding. Upcoming projects for her include Love Me and Sacramento.
Rosebush Pruning has no release date yet.
