Josh Hartnett’s cult ’90s horror is getting a remake

Josh Hartnett’s 1998 horror movie The Faculty is getting a remake.

A widely-adored film, penned by Kevin Williamson (known for Scream) and directed by Robert Rodriguez, revolves around a cluster of teenagers growing suspicious about potentially lethal secrets concealed by their high school educators.

As reported by Variety, Rodriguez plans to re-create the movie “The Faculty” for Miramax, with Drew Hancock from the “Companion” team set to compose the screenplay.

Details such as the cast members and director for the upcoming movie are still undisclosed at this time.

Besides Hartnett, the initial movie features Elijah Wood, Jordana Brewster, Clea DuVall, Famke Janssen, Salma Hayek, Shawn Hatosy, and Usher as its main cast members.

In the coming days, movie enthusiasts can catch actor Hartnett in the thrilling action movie “Fight or Flight” on Sky Cinema. The plot revolves around a mercenary who must chase after a target aboard an airplane.

Initially, he was a target, but when they found themselves surrounded by those trying to harm them, he swiftly transformed into their defender instead.

Some of the other actors involved are Charithra Chandran from Bridgerton, Julian Kostov from Shadow and Bone, Katee Sackhoff from Battlestar Galactica, and Marko Zaror, who was in John Wick: Chapter 4.

Apart from “The Faculty”, another iconic ’90s horror movie that’s set for a revival is none other than “The Blair Witch Project”, which was confirmed for a remake last year.

Blumhouse Productions and Lionsgate Studios are planning a new version of the 1999 horror movie, known for rejuvenating the handheld-camera genre and serving as the foundation for films like Paranormal Activity and Cloverfield.

2019 sees the creation of a follow-up to the 1997 horror classic, “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” with the cast featuring Camila Mendes from “Riverdale,” Madelyn Cline of “Outer Banks,” Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Hauer-King.

The upcoming film will also see the return of Freddie Prinze Jr as Ray Bronson.
