As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for Hollywood tales, I must say that Josh Brolin’s memoir, “From Under the Truck,” is a riveting read, brimming with anecdotes that showcase both his youthful exuberance and the challenges he faced during his journey to stardom.

In his recently released, entertaining memoir titled “From Under the Truck,” Josh Brolin has divulged an amusing anecdote about filming The Goonies.

In an unexpected turn of events, a 56-year-old actor disclosed that his unbridled enthusiasm during the shooting of the 1985 blockbuster movie led to a crucial scene mishap – the initial appearance of Captain One-Eyed Willy’s pirate ship.

I, as a dedicated fan, can attest that Director Steven Spielberg meticulously orchestrated an authentic, genuine reaction from the young cast – Brolin, Sean Astin, Corey Feldman, Martha Plimpton, and Ke Huy Quan – who portrayed a band of friends embarking on a thrilling quest for concealed treasure. The authenticity of their emotions was evidently planned to perfection by Spielberg himself.

The performers remained below water, biding their time until signaled to resurface and catch sight of the vessel for the very first time.

Upon emerging, Brolin couldn’t suppress his enthusiasm, exclaiming enthusiastically with a mix of surprise and elation, “Wow, this is incredible! What the devil!” – a response different from the restrained reaction that Spielberg had anticipated.

Spielberg immediately called ‘CUT!’ and reminded Brolin, ‘You can’t say f*** in this movie!’

‘I wasn’t pretending; it was truly my words. Genuine, I had never experienced anything quite like this.’ (Brolin wrote)

‘It was bigger than life, bigger than ,y teenage imagination would allow me to swallow.’

He added: ‘The kids all laughed, and even though I knew I’d messed it up, I laughed too. I don’t know, man. They should’ve warned me.’

16-year-old Brolin admitted that he sometimes felt uncomfortable during the making of The Goonies, as it was his first acting role.

He recalled being driven to an airport with his guardian, heading off to shoot the film for several months.

That’s where he crossed paths with his co-actors – Astin, Feldman, Quan, and Plimpton, as well as the entire production team.

In his words at the airport, Brolin expressed, ‘I unexpectedly feel as if I’ve accomplished something genuinely beneficial for the first time ever, but simultaneously, there’s a lingering doubt if my presence here could be a misstep.’

The actor pondered over the strange sensation he experienced being surrounded by such esteemed peers, several of whom had previously shone in various productions.

He mentioned how odd it felt for him to be among this group, included in their activities, when he’s never before been a part of any other group, except those that others chose to avoid.

In his freshly published memoir, Brolin shares a wealth of intimate experiences, such as the heartbreaking demise of his childhood friend at an early stage in life, and his prolonged struggle with addiction for more than ten years.

Additionally, he shares an influential experience from 1981, where he had his initial LSD adventure with companions. This event culminated in a distressing 12-hour journey that served as a significant milestone in his personal history.

Additionally, Brolin shares insights about the significant role Barbra Streisand played in his recuperation process. During one of the most challenging periods of his life as he struggled with sobriety, she provided vital support and encouragement.
