Josh Brolin shows off his massive fake tattoos on set after removing his real ink
On the set of the upcoming thriller “Whalefall” on Monday, Josh Brolin was virtually unmatched in his appearance due to some striking false tattoos he showcased.
The 57-year-old seasoned actor chose to go without a shirt at the San Pedro, California spot, pairing it with some dark denim jeans and a worn-out purple baseball cap.
Over a year since the celebrity had a tattoo on his shoulder blade removed, his torso, including his chest, arms, and back, still bore extensive tattoos.
Whalefall is based on the Daniel Kraus novel and tells the story of Jay, a young scuba diver, who is on a quest to find the remains of his deceased father, Mitt Gardiner, portrayed by Brolin.
During the pursuit, he finds himself drawn into a massive 80-foot, 60-ton sperm whale. He only has a brief span of time left before his air supply exhausts.
After giving in to defeat, Jay suddenly finds a reason to live.

Back in March, it was revealed by Deadline that Josh was in discussions to appear alongside Austin Abrams in a movie they referred to as a blend of ‘The Martian’ and ‘127 Hours.’
Earlier this month, Whalefall commenced its production, with Kraus offering a sneak peek of Josh portraying the role of Mitt, who sports an impressive collection of tattoos, to his enthusiastic fans.
The photo, originally distributed through a newsletter, eventually found its way onto platform X, being reposted by the horror-focused account @BloodyDisgusting.
The scene displayed Josh without a shirt, adorned with the tattoos of his character, while wearing a green ribbed hat and sporting a goatee.
Kraus co-wrote the screenplay in collaboration with director Brian Duffield.
Joining the lineup as well are Elisabeth Shue, Jane Levy, John Ortiz, and Emily Rudd, based on information from ComingSoon.Net.
In Daniel’s newsletter, he muses, ‘Almost all of my books have been considered for adaptation at some point, but only a small fraction actually make it to the screen, and I wouldn’t have predicted that the book primarily set within a whale would be the one to succeed in this regard – and garner such notable talent.’
He also mentioned, “‘Both Brolin and Austin Abrams (as Jay) have impressed me. I’ve come to see Abrams as a genuine guy who is incredibly dedicated to this role.’
Initially, gaze upon the ink-adorned visage of Josh Brolin in WHALEFALL, currently being filmed. Brian Duffield (of “No One Will Save You” fame) is directing the big-screen adaptation of Daniel Kraus’ nail-biting underwater survival tale.

In May 2024, Josh shared a video on Instagram showing him getting a tattoo on his upper right back area removed.
He stood for a picture, positioned before a black vehicle that bore the label ‘Removery Tattoo Removal & Fading’.
Wearing a burgundy trucker hat, brown shirt, and jeans, he flashed the ‘hang loose’ hand gesture.
In the following slide, you’ll see a brief clip featuring him lying down as a professional worked on his tattoo with a laser.
I appreciate your help, @removery, for removing that annoying problem from me. And thanks to @tobymorse for our early-morning workout session.
