Josh Brolin joins “The Martian meets 127 Hours” thriller about a whale swallowing a man

Actor Josh Brolin, well-known for his roles in Marvel films, is now part of an upcoming thriller about a person who gets ingested by a whale.

The movie can be compared to “The Martian combined with 127 Hours” as it is based on Daniel Kraus’ popular novel Whalefall and centers around a scuba diver who embarks on a quest to find the remains of his late father.

As reported by Deadline, Brolin is in negotiations for a role opposite Austin Abrams from Euphoria. The specifics of their characters are yet to be revealed. Meanwhile, Brian Duffield, the director, will take on the role as producer and collaborate with author Kraus in writing the script.

Slated for a release on November 7, this updated version maintains the original storyline from the 1987 film, but transports it to the year 2025, where the United States is depicted as a dystopian society plagued by violence and poverty.


Actor-performers such as Colman Domingo, Karl Glusman, Katy O’Brian, Lee Pace, Daniel Ezra, Michael Cera, William H Macy, and Emilia Jones have all signed up for this production.

Additionally, you’ll find Brolin starring in the third part of Rian Johnson’s Knives Out collection, known as Wake Up Dead Man.

Filming for the movie concluded in August, and it boasts an impressive ensemble of actors such as Daniel Craig, Josh O’Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington, Glenn Close, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church.
