As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of immersion in the vast universe of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), I can say that the prospect of Josh Brolin reprising his role as Thanos in Avengers: Secret Wars has sent waves of excitement coursing through my veins.
Josh Brolin has addressed a possible return for Thanos in Avengers: Secret Wars, aka Avengers 6.
On May 7, 2027, the next movie in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe Phase 6 is scheduled to be released, marking the end of The Multiverse Saga.
Discussing a potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the upcoming Avengers film at New York Comic Con, Brolin remained cryptic, hinting that there might be room for his character Thanos to reappear.
As a devoted admirer, I’d be more than happy to step back into the shoes of Thanos if the scenario perfectly aligns. In fact, if the extraordinary duo, Anthony and Joe Russo, extended an invitation for another collaboration, I wouldn’t think twice before saying yes!
Brolin explained: “I’m completely serious – Portraying Thanos is no joke. It’s like, ‘They might resurrect Thanos.’ It’s similar to the film Sicario; it requires precision. Instead of discussing Deadpool 4, Ryan Reynolds and I often find ourselves chatting about Taylor Swift. However, we keep bouncing ideas off each other. Ultimately, it’s about what feels right for him, what feels right for me. If Thanos is to return, he needs to fit seamlessly into the story. I would be willing to do whatever the Russos ask of me.
The upcoming movie titled “Avengers: Secret Wars” will continue the storyline from the 2026 release of “Avengers: Doomsday.” The Russo brothers are back to helm the direction for both “Avengers 5” and “Avengers 6.
In July, it emerged that “Avengers 5” had been given a fresh title, and the surprising announcement followed that Robert Downey Jr would be rejoining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Victor Von Doom, also known as Doctor Doom, in the upcoming film titled “Avengers: Doomsday“.
After revealing his identity on stage, Downey Jr commented, “A new role, but the job remains the same.” He enjoys taking on complex character roles.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released in cinemas on May 1, 2026.
