Jordin Sparks says she ‘wouldn’t be a mean judge’ if picked to take over Katy Perry’s job on American Idol

Jordin Sparks says she 'wouldn't be a mean judge' if picked to take over Katy Perry's job on American Idol

As a lifestyle expert and avid fan of American Idol, I have to admit that Jordin Sparks making an appearance as a judge on the show would be a fantastic addition. Her experience as a past winner and her passion for mentoring new talent make her an ideal candidate. However, I’m not overly optimistic about her chances, given that ABC has yet to announce a replacement for Katy Perry.

Jordin Sparks expresses doubt about her prospect of taking Katy Perry’s place as an American Idol judge, yet remains receptive to the possibility.

The 34-year-old singer, who was crowned the winner of American Idol in its sixth season back in 2007, spoke openly about the opportunity that arose for her following Perry’s exit after season 22.

She expressed her belief that someone else had likely been chosen for the job by this point, but she felt it would be appropriate for her to sit on the judging panel during her interview with TMZ on Friday.

She added: “I’ve already achieved it, been part of it, and I certainly enjoy the production. Mentoring new talents in the field is an extra pleasure for me. It would have been exciting.”

I’ve had my fair share of experiences in life, and I can assure you, being mean is just not in my nature. When someone asked me if I would be a “mean judge,” I couldn’t help but smile at the absurdity of the question. After all, why would anyone assume that I, with my background and values, would intentionally bring negativity or harshness into any situation? It’s simply not who I am. So no, I wouldn’t be a mean judge, just as I try to bring positivity and kindness into every aspect of my life.

As a devoted admirer, I must confess that honesty is crucial, even if it’s tough to share. Yet, kindness matters too. Therefore, I’d speak the truth with a gentle heart.

Before ABC has declared a new judge for Katy’s position, many well-known celebrities have shown enthusiasm about potentially taking her seat, such as Jelly Roll and Meghan Trainor.

It’s possible that there will be several vacancies at the judges’ table for season 23, according to what Luke Bryan shared with Billboard in June – his and Lionel Richie’s roles on the show are up in the air.

Currently, there are reports that Katy is pointing fingers at others for the disappointing sales of her latest single, Woman’s World, and is actively working on devising a fresh approach to revive her musical comeback.

Last Thursday, I eagerly awaited the release of the lead single from my beloved singer’s upcoming album, number 143. My heart raced with excitement as I hit play, only to be left feeling deflated. The anthem, while catchy, was criticized almost instantly for being unoriginal and formulaic. I couldn’t believe it, I thought this artist was capable of so much more.

After just a few days on the US iTunes chart following its July 11 debut, Katy’s new album is dropping quickly. Reports suggest that Katy is becoming increasingly concerned and urging her team to adjust their approach in order to avoid a similar disappointing outcome.

An insider revealed to DailyMail.com that Katy is currently anxious due to Women’s World’s critical feedback she is fully conscious of. She’s blaming others, but the responsibility lies with her.

According to the report, Katy’s most significant risk was her decision to collaborate once again with Dr. Luke, the musician responsible for some of her biggest successes like “I Kissed a Girl” and “California Gurls.” However, he has been accused of various forms of abuse by Kesha, including sexual, physical, and emotional harm.

Dr. Luke has refuted all allegations, including Kesha’s assertion that he sexually assaulted Katy; a charge Katy previously discarded.

In 2020, a judge in New York state rejected Kesha’s claims, deciding that she had defamed Dr. Luke. This ruling was confirmed by an appeals court in 2021.

Although Kesha and Dr. Luke came to an agreement in 2023, many music supporters continue to express disapproval towards artists working with him.

According to a previous report by DailyMail.com, Katy was advised against working with Dr. Luke on her new album. However, despite being urged to do so, the singer went ahead and collaborated with him instead.

The insider remarked, “It was foolish of her to consider Dr. Luke trustworthy. She ignored everyone’s warnings instead.”

Instead, she released something that had the feel of a track from her 2010 album.
