Jordan Ablett’s heartbreaking admission about new memoir on raising her son Levi with a rare disability: ‘I have shed plenty of tears’
As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I must commend Jordan Ablett for her impending memoir, One Day. Her forthcoming book offers a unique perspective into the challenges and triumphs of raising a child with a disability. Her personal journey, as a mother to five-year-old Levi who lives with a rare degenerative illness, is both heartbreaking and inspiring.
Jordan Ablett, spouse of Geelong AFL star Gary Ablett Jr, will share insights on the trials faced while bringing up a child with special needs in her upcoming memoir titled “One Day”.
The couple are parents to five-year-old son Levi, who suffers from a rare degenerative illness that severely impacts his respiratory system.
Despite not revealing the precise nature of Levi’s ailment, they’ve made it clear that his lifespan is significantly reduced.
Sharing a photo of her book on Instagram, the mother of three admitted that she cried a lot while writing her memoir and hopes it brings comfort to other parents facing similar difficulties.
She announced her long-awaited news: after a year of dedicated work, she’s writing her first book!
This moment carries a unique significance for me and my family, as we’ve shared both the peaks and valleys of life together, experiencing each up and down alongside us.
Writing this book has brought a flood of emotions, from joyful to sorrowful tears. Yet, expressing my personal tale and potentially inspiring others has made every single emotion I’ve felt throughout the process more than worthwhile.
I’m hoping that by sharing my personal account, parents of children with disabilities may find comfort in realizing they’re not alone, gain confidence in their ability to handle challenges, and perhaps adopt a fresh perspective on their child. They might come to see their child as the unique and valuable gem that they truly are!
In addition, she expressed gratitude towards her loved ones and family, as well as paid an emotional tribute to her son and her deceased mother, in a moving post that she shared.
Finally, yet by no means the least, to our dear Levi who fills our lives with happiness, and to my deeply cherished and admired mother… I love you,” she expressed.
Jordan and Gary share two other children: daughter Grace, two and their youngest son, Ezra, one.

Lately, Jordan has expressed fondness over the growing affection between Levi, his siblings Grace and Ezra.
She mentioned that Grace, who is almost 2.5 years old, shares a lovely bond with her, and having Ezra, who’s only seven months old, creates a delightful environment for Levi, as she shared with The Herald Sun in March.

As a die-hard admirer, I can’t help but reflect on the joyous moments we’ve shared, yet I can’t ignore the increasing intricacies that seem to accompany Levi’s journey, particularly as he ventures into the next phase of his life.
‘Everyone keeps asking how he’s doing and he’s pretty much the same to be honest,’ she shared.
As I navigate through this journey, I acknowledge the recurring themes but can’t ignore the fact that he’s maturing and expanding. This growth, however, brings forth new hurdles, yet I assure you, we’re steadfastly meeting these challenges head-on.
One Day at a Time will be published by Harper Collins on April 2, 2025.
