Jonathan Majors Won’t Return as Kang the Conqueror in MCU After Assault Conviction
Jonathan Majors is not in talks to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kang the Conqueror.
The actor, who is 35 years old, is poised to become the next major Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) antagonist following his brief appearances in the TV show Loki and the movie Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which will release in 2023.
Following his arrest on charges of assaulting Grace Jabbari in March 2023, and subsequent conviction for 3rd degree reckless assault and harassment, it was Marvel who chose to part ways with him.
As a devoted fan, I’ve been eagerly awaiting updates about his return, but I’ve learned today from various reliable sources that TMZ reported inaccurately on this matter.
The sources added that he has ‘not engaged in any talks’ with the company since he was dropped.
In July last year, the actor expressed his deep sadness when Marvel revealed during San Diego Comic-Con that Robert Downey Jr. would be playing Doctor Doom in the upcoming two Avengers films, thus taking on the role of the main antagonist.

It’s been announced that the title of the 2026 movie, initially titled “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” has been altered. At San Diego Comic-Con, they confirmed this change, and the new title is now “Avengers: Doomsday.
Shortly following the revelation that Downey Jr., earlier known for his heroic portrayal of Iron Man within the MCU and now transitioning into the antagonistic character of Doctor Doom, had been cast as the latest antagonist, TMZ ran into Majors in Los Angeles.
When questioned about his feelings towards Marvel’s new direction following his removal from their movies, Majors responded by saying, “Yes, I feel quite heartbroken.
Majors emphasized his sentiment, stating “Absolutely, I agree. I have a deep affection for him, referring to Kang. Interestingly, Downey Jr. and DC’s Ezra Miller have faced legal troubles, including felony charges, while Kang was only found guilty of misdemeanor assault.
As for your inquiry about whether it was ‘unfair’ not receiving the same opportunities as others, my perspective is quite different. I believe both Mr. Downey and Mr. Miller have been treated fairly – with patience, curiosity, and love. They’ve both been granted the chance to express their artistry, which is something that I haven’t had the same experience with.
In 1996, Robert Downey Jr. was taken into custody on charges of driving under the influence (DUI). During this incident, law enforcement officers discovered drugs such as heroin, crack, cocaine, and a .357 Magnum handgun in his vehicle.
He served a third of his three-year prison term for violating probation, spending a year behind bars before being released.
Following numerous challenging years battling addiction, he eventually overcame it and has remained clean for a long period, prior to making his return which began in 2008 with the release of Iron Man.

In the year 2015, he received a full pardon from Jerry Brown, who was then California’s governor at the time. This act restored his eligibility to vote and enabled him to sit on a jury.
Over the last few years, Miller has faced numerous legal troubles, one of them being a 2022 felony accusation for burglary related to the theft of multiple bottles of liquor.
Recently, Miller appeared in Warner Bros.’ 2023 movie “The Flash,” but he hasn’t taken on any new projects for the past year and a half following its release.
When inquired about his thoughts on why Downey and Miller received opportunities over him, Majors replied with a surprised tone, “I honestly can’t say.
In the end, Majors received a sentence of probation along with a requirement to complete a 52-week domestic violence treatment program due to his guilty verdict in a minor offense.
In June, it was revealed that he will feature in a film titled “Merciless,” which is a supernatural revenge thriller directed by Martin Villeneuve, the younger sibling of Denis Villeneuve, known for his work on Dune.
Back in December, I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard that my beloved film, Magazine Dreams, had finally been given a theatrical release date – March 21, 2025! After all the ups and downs it had gone through, following its initial suspension due to the actor’s legal troubles surrounding an assault charge against his ex-girlfriend, I was overjoyed to learn that we fans would finally get to see this masterpiece on the big screen. The wait is almost over!
In a turbulent altercation inside an SUV, Jabbari stated that Majors struck her on the head with an open palm, twisted her arm backwards, and applied pressure to her middle finger until it broke.
She also testified that he had been controlling and manipulative during their relationship.
She claimed that he frequently had violent temper tantrums at home, during which he’d hurl objects against the walls, causing damage to household belongings.
Jabbari also claimed that Majors tried to control who she was allowed to spend time with socially.

In his assertion, he claimed innocence, however, by December of 2023, a verdict was reached that declared him guilty on one count of misdemeanor assault and one count of harassment violation.
In April, an actor who had been nominated for an Emmy was instructed to finish a year-long therapy program instead of serving jail time.
During Majors’ sentencing, Judge Michael Gaffey pointed out that both parties in the case concurred the offenses did not necessitate imprisonment, and furthermore, Majors had no previous convictions on record.
In November, they mutually decided to end a civil lawsuit that Jabbari was involved in, which was initiated by Majors, by withdrawing all legal claims from either side.
Regarding the Lompoc, California-born performer who has faced past legal issues, it seems his situation is improving. In fact, last November, he publicly announced his engagement to actress Meagan Good, who is 43 years old.
