Jonathan Majors reveals he’s ‘heartbroken’ that Marvel is ditching his Kang the Conqueror character for Robert Downey Jr.’s new Doctor Doom

Jonathan Majors reveals he's 'heartbroken' that Marvel is ditching his Kang the Conqueror character for Robert Downey Jr.'s new Doctor Doom

As a devoted Marvel fan, it’s hard not to feel a tinge of disappointment hearing about Jonathan Majors’ heartbreak over being replaced as the next big villain in the MCU. The man has shown immense potential in his portrayal of Kang, and the thought of him not getting to fully explore that character is genuinely sad.

Shortly following Marvel’s announcement of Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Doctor Doom at San Diego Comic-Con, the upcoming Avengers movie antagonist, Jonathan Majors, expressed his feelings as being deeply saddened by this choice.

34-year-old Majors is poised for a significant role as a future MCU antagonist, following his initial appearances in the TV show Loki and the movie Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, slated for release in 2023.

In March 2023, Majors was taken into custody due to accusations of assault. Upon being convicted for the third-degree charge of reckless assault and harassment, Marvel chose to terminate their association with him.

It’s been announced that the working title for the 2026 film by the studio, originally titled “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” has been officially changed to “Avengers: Doomsday.” This update was confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC).

Not long after the revelation about Downey Jr.’s transformation from the heroic Iron Man to the antagonist Doctor Doom within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, TMZ encountered Majors in Los Angeles.

When inquired about his feelings regarding Marvel’s shift in direction following his removal from their movie productions, Majors expressed, “Indeed, I am deeply saddened.”

Majors responded affirmatively when asked about his feelings towards Kang, saying, “Absolutely, I adore him.” He clarified that while Downey Jr. and Ezra Miller have faced legal troubles involving felony charges, he was only found guilty of a minor assault charge.

When asked if he felt disadvantaged because he wasn’t offered the same chances as others, Majors responded, “I believe both Mr. Downey and Mr. Miller have been treated fairly with understanding, interest, and affection, and they’ve been allowed to express their creativity. As for me, I didn’t receive that opportunity.”

In 1996, Robert Downey Jr. was taken into custody due to driving under the influence of alcohol. Upon further inspection, law enforcement discovered illicit substances such as heroin, crack, cocaine, and a .357 Magnum weapon within his vehicle.

He served a year in prison out of his three-year sentence due to violating his probation, later being released after that time.

Following a prolonged battle with addiction spanning several years, he eventually overcame it and maintained sobriety for quite some time, prior to launching his comeback in the year 2008 with the movie Iron Man.

In 2015, I received a commendable act of mercy from Governor Jerry Brown, who was the California governor at the time. This gracious gesture restored my right to vote and granted me the opportunity to serve as a juror.

Over the last few years, Miller has been dealing with numerous legal problems. One of these issues was a 2022 felony burglary accusation related to stealing multiple bottles of liquor.

As a die-hard admirer, I can’t help but share my excitement about the latest role Miller played in Warner Bros.’ 2023 blockbuster, The Flash. It’s been nearly a year and a half since that film hit the screens, but unfortunately, there’s no new project of his on the horizon yet.

As a devoted follower, when I was questioned about why I believed Downey and Miller landed those opportunities while I didn’t, my response was genuinely puzzled: “Geez, I’m honestly at a loss.”

In the end, Majors received probation along with a 52-week domestic violence treatment course as a result of his guilty verdict in a misdemeanor case.

In June, it became known that he will appear in a movie titled “Merciless,” which is a supernatural revenge thriller directed by Martin Villeneuve, the younger sibling of Denis Villeneuve, who’s renowned for directing Dune.
