A new Batman movie is planned as part of the DC Universe, and there’s a lot of debate about which actor should play him. With the upcoming film, The Brave and The Bold, set to introduce Bruce Wayne into the first chapter of the DC Universe – “Gods and Monsters” – several actors in Hollywood are being considered for the part.
Jonathan Bailey and David Corenswet recently interviewed each other for Variety’s Actors on Actors. After a fan account, @HomeOfDCU, jokingly asked what Bailey would look like as Batman, digital artist @pulp_flick created some images of both actors as Batman and Superman for the DC Universe. You can see the fan art below.
The images show what David Corenswet as Superman and Clark Kent would look like alongside Tyler Hoechlin as Batman and Bruce Wayne. One particular shot is a nod to a famous Superman and Batman scene from the web series How It Should Have Ended.
Batman made his first appearance in the DC Universe through the animated series Creature Commandos. He appeared in a brief flashback and also in a vision of the future shown by Circe. This future vision depicted Batman as one of the fallen heroes of the Justice League.
Is Jonathan Bailey Going To Be The DCU’s Batman?
With fans eager to see him play Batman in the upcoming The Brave and The Bold film, actor Bailey was recently asked about the possibility during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in early November 2025. He shared that he grew up watching Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale, and Robert Pattinson in the role, calling it an iconic legacy. He also praised director James Gunn, leaving the door open to the idea.
James Gunn has stated that the new Batman movie for the DC Universe is still in the scripting phase. Andy Muschietti is confirmed to direct, but the writer hasn’t been announced yet. Fans began suggesting Bailey for the role of Batman in December 2024, after Gunn showed approval of a post about it on X (formerly BlueSky).
The popular post said, “I’m surprised he isn’t considered a top choice to play Batman,” and showed support for Bailey being cast in a DC Universe role.
Although a release date for The Brave and The Bold hasn’t been announced yet, Superman is currently available to stream and buy. A sequel, called Man of Tomorrow, is planned for the DC Universe and is expected to be released on July 9, 2027.
