Jonathan Bailey reveals wholesome link between Wicked and Bridgerton as fans are left ‘sobbing’
As a longtime fan of the Broadway phenomenon, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard that “Wicked” was finally making its way to the big screen. Growing up, “Wicked” was more than just a musical for me – it was an escape from reality and a source of inspiration. The story of friendship, self-discovery, and standing up against injustice resonated with me deeply.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t hide my excitement when I discovered that Jonathan Bailey, the captivating star of Netflix’s Bridgerton, has unveiled the delightful connection between our beloved period drama and the highly anticipated Wicked film!
The actor, 36, stars as Elphaba’s love interest Fiyero Tigelaar in Wicked and plays Lord Anthony in Bridgerton.
In both the musical and TV series, it was disclosed that Jonathan was always riding his horse Jack.
Jonathan shared that he urged the director of Wicked, Jon M. Chu, to select the very same steed he had mounted in Bridgerton for their production.
He said: ‘I went round to see Jon Chu [the director] before we starting filming and I said to him “I think I know who the horse is” and he was like “What do you mean?”.
…”It was Jack, the horse I rode in Bridgerton, whom I shared a wonderful bond.
‘People say don’t work with kids and animals but if it’s Jack, I’d say take the job. He’s a legend.’
Fans have become quite emotional over the comparison, some even shedding tears upon hearing the news.
Some wrote: ‘that’s actually sick’, ‘whaaat that’s so sweet’, ‘I love this so much’.
Jonathan arrives on the horse in his grand entrance in Wicked, which hits cinemas November 22.
The movie adaptation of the 1995 epic fantasy novel by Gregory Maguire, titled originally, later inspired a highly acclaimed Broadway musical that won three Tony Awards in 2003.
Under the guidance of director Jon M. Chu and boasting a staggering production budget of $145 million, the movie adaptation of Wicked has been divided into two full-length films, with the concluding part due to be released in November 2025.
Critics have begun praising Wicked: Part One, describing it as a ‘masterful production’ that ‘dazzles and bewitches in cinemas’, inviting viewers into the magical realm of Oz.

The tale, “Wicked”, delves into the backstory of a woman with emerald skin who eventually transforms into the infamous Wicked Witch of the West. This story serves as a precursor to “The Wizard of Oz”.
The story delves into the former friendship between the characters Elphaba and Glinda many years before Dorothy’s arrival.
Besides Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, and Peter Dinklage, there are several other notable actors in this production as well.
The first installment of “Wicked”, titled “Wicked: Part One”, will grace the big screens starting November 22. A year later, we can look forward to the second part, “Wicked: Part Two”, which is planned for release on November 21, 2025.
