Jonathan Bailey reveals he headbutted co-star Arianna Grande and details the ‘darker side’ of Wicked as he covers British GQ

In a recent interview on Thursday, Jonathan Bailey shared an amusing story about unintentionally headbutting his fellow actor, Ariana Grande, during their work on “Wicked”, while also discussing the more challenging aspects of the movie’s production.

As a lifestyle expert, I find myself thrilled to discuss the captivating role of the talented actor, 37 years old, who graces the stage as the romantic interest of Elphaba’s (played by Cynthia Erivo) in the upcoming finale of the Broadway smash-hit.

In a feature article for British GQ’s Heroes Issue, Jonathan shared some behind-the-scenes details about an initial run-through of “Wicked” and hinted at what viewers might find exciting in the upcoming movie.

He reminisced about the time when he had to quickly master a dance move in just four hours. He performed it alongside Ari, gave her a headbutt, and then casually said, “I’ve got to leave!

‘I think she might have even headbutted me, but it was a meeting of minds, literally.’

Upcoming Movie: “Wicked” arrives in cinemas on November 21. This time, we see the return of Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, the infamous Witch of the West, and Ariana in the role of Glinda, the beloved Good Witch of the North. In the second part of the musical film, their friendship unfolds after Elphaba was exiled from Oz.

Jonathan explained that the story will take a darker turn, tackle political issues more deeply, and undergo transformation alongside his character.

He added: ‘It seems to be becoming more ominous, and I have a feeling the political aspects will follow suit. The character of Fiyero undergoes significant change, culminating in a literal transformation by the end.’

‘There’s an abundance of fresh elements. Once [Fiyero] departs with Elphaba towards her hideout, you simply imagine that she dwells in a pit filled with dry ice on stage; however, in the movie, it’s beautifully designed and executed by the production teams, as well as Cynthia and me.’

This week, the long-awaited trailer for Wicked’s follow-up was unveiled, causing quite a stir among enthusiasts.

This video offers a sneak peek into the final scene of the Broadway success, hinting at the outcomes of the main characters and introducing us to some fresh characters for the first time.

In seclusion, Elphaba dwells deep within the woods of Oz, persistently championing the liberty of the mute creatures and striving to unveil the Wizard’s (played by Jeff Goldblum) hidden truths.

Meanwhile, Glinda now embodies Kindness throughout all of Oz, residing in the Emerald City’s palace and enjoying the benefits of renown and adoration, as she readies herself for marriage with Prince Fiyero (Jonathan), basking in the limelight.

Under Madame Morrible’s guidance (Michelle Yeoh), I too am laboring to reassure the people of Oz that there is no cause for alarm concerning the Wizard.

Meanwhile, secretly, Glinda tries to bring Elphaba and the Wizard together, but this effort instead widens the gap between them and Glinda.

Consequently, both Boq (Ethan Slater) and Fiyero will undergo transformations, whereas the security of Elphaba’s sister, Nessarose (Marissa Bode), becomes uncertain.

As the tension in Oz peaks at its maximum, a girl from Kansas unexpectedly bursts onto the scene, affecting everyone’s life.

The Heroes Issue of British GQ is available via digital download and on newsstands on 10th June.
