Jon Jones fight update, Conor McGregor wants to fight in December & Sean O'Malley vs. Canelo

As a seasoned gamer with decades of combat sports knowledge under my belt, I can’t help but share my thoughts on today’s news. The cat is out of the bag – Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic will square off in November, as confirmed by none other than Dana White himself. I’ve been following these two heavyweights for years, and let me tell you, this matchup promises to be nothing short of electrifying!

In this fresh daily feature, I’ll delve into the latest happenings across the combat sports scene and share my insights with you. Make sure to visit us each morning to catch the day’s biggest or most intriguing stories, along with my thoughts on these news items conveniently presented for your reading pleasure.

Dana White confirms they are targeting Jon Jones for November

Dana White, UFC president, announced that the highly-anticipated fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic is scheduled for November. The event is currently being planned and developed.

It seems that everyone anticipated this direction for the UFC, and it’s no secret that Jones has shown interest in this specific date too. It’s refreshing to hear Dana White verifying some of our assumptions, and I’m pleased that I brought up the topic with him.

Conor McGregor claps back, wants December date

Conor McGregor reacted to Dana White announcing he wouldn’t fight in 2024 by posting a tweet, which has since been removed. In the tweet, he exclaimed, “Ah Dana, December is the date!” He went on to encourage the UFC to wrap up the year with a successful event and expressed his desire for a fight in December. McGregor further emphasized that both him and the fans want to see action in December, stating they deserve it.

As a diehard fan, I can’t help but express my excitement for the possibility of seeing McGregor on the December PPV card. However, deep down, I have doubts about his intentions. If he truly wanted to fight then, Dana White would be tirelessly working to get him matched up. It seems like it’s only McGregor himself who is delaying this potential bout. In my opinion, no one else appears to be hindering this fight from happening.

Sean O’Malley vows to ‘steal the headlines’ away from Canelo on Sept. 14

On the same day, Sean O’Malley takes center stage at a UFC event, while Saul “Canelo” Alvarez headlines a boxing match nearby. However, O’Malley believes his performance will garner more discussion. He poses, “Who are they chatting about on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday? Is it Canelo? The boxing bout? Or is it the breathtaking, flawless, expert display I gave against Merab and the viral knockout that followed suit? Or is it a 36-minute boxing match by Canelo that was quite impressive?”

The back-and-forth banter between Canelo and Sean O’Malley seems rather immature, doesn’t it? The media attention they generate is not the main issue here. After all, they are involved in separate sports with distinct fan bases and varying media platforms. While there may be some overlap, it’s not worth getting worked up over. They should both channel their energy into preparing for their respective fights instead of focusing on each other.
