Joker: Absolute Batman’s Nemesis Is Scarier Than Ever Before in New Look

Absolute Batman’s version of the Joker is scarier than ever in a fresh new look.

Absolute Batman is a comic book series from DC Comics, created by writer Scott Snyder and artist Nick Dragotta. It began in October 2024 and presents a unique take on Batman, placing him in an alternate universe where he’s a 24-year-old working-class engineer instead of the billionaire vigilante we know.

What does the Joker in Absolute Batman look like?

Fans previously got a glimpse of a human-like Joker in Absolute Batman, but last month revealed the character’s complete, monstrous design. The design sparked a lot of discussion, with many wondering how Batman could possibly defeat such a huge and terrifying version of the Joker.

DCU Updates on Twitter recently shared new artwork by Dragotta for the Absolute Joker collection. You can see the images below.

A new version of the Joker will first appear in Absolute Batman #15, coming out in December. The comic’s description says Alfred shares a long-held secret with Bruce – the story behind the Joker – as writer Scott Snyder and artist Jock team up for a special story in the Absolute Universe.

This new take on the Joker aligns with the design choices seen in other ‘Absolute’ series villains. For instance, ‘Absolute Killer Croc’ is much bigger and more imposing than the usual depiction, and ‘Absolute Bane’ is a colossal figure that dwarfs the standard Bane. This trend of reimagined characters isn’t new – fans recently got a first look at Zatanna’s updated costume in ‘Absolute Wonder Woman,’ showcasing a similar creative approach.

DC Comics will release Absolute Batman #15 on December 10, 2025. Jock provides the main artwork and one of the variant covers, with additional variant covers created by Ben Oliver, Brian Bolland, and Sanford Greene.
