Joker 2 sets unwanted record as it lands disappointing opening

As a devoted fan of comic book movies, I must admit that my excitement for “Joker: Folie à Deux” was through the roof when it was announced. However, much like Arthur Fleck’s descent into madness, my expectations have taken a dark turn after its dismal performance both critically and financially.

As a passionate gamer, I’ve got to share my thoughts on the latest Joker sequel, “Folie à Deux.” Unfortunately, it’s made history as the first comic book movie to receive a D grade from cinema-goers, according to the CinemaScore poll.

As a die-hard fan, I eagerly awaited the release of the long-anticipated follow-up to Todd Phillips’ 2019 blockbuster on October 4. However, unlike its remarkable forerunner, it appears to have failed to captivate both critics and moviegoers alike.

The movie earned the poorest rating yet for a comic book film on CinemaScore, surpassing the C- grade given to 2015’s “Fantastic Four” film.

The movie duo-related madness, titled “Folie à Deux,” has started off with an underwhelming performance at the box office, bringing in only $20 million on its opening day (October 4), which includes $7 million from preview screenings.

Over the upcoming weekend, the movie was anticipated to generate earnings between $50 million and $60 million. However, this projected revenue lags substantially behind that of 2019’s Joker, which raked in a staggering $96.2 million during its initial release.

The reception towards “Folie à Deus” has predominantly been unfavorable, as indicated by its low rating of 33% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 257 critic’s reviews at the point of this composition.

In the sequel to Joaquin Phoenix’s titled ‘Joker’, the narrative stays put while the film seems to dance around, but Lady Gaga’s unpredictable vibe infuses Folie á Deux with a sense of energy.

In a review of their own, Digital Spy awarded the film just two stars, stating that despite the strong performances by Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, the movie seems destined to fail due to its self-destructive nature.

It appears that Todd Phillips has decided against making another movie featuring Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck (Joker) or Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn, since he won’t be producing a third film or a standalone Harley Quinn film.

He shared with The Hollywood Reporter, “The direction this movie seems to be taking isn’t quite resonating with me. I believe my involvement in the DC Universe ended with those two movies.

Joker: Folie à Deux is out now in cinemas. Joker is available to buy on Blu-ray or streaming now.
