JoJo Siwa revealed a shocking new look as she shared a glimpse at a new music video on Monday.

The 22-year-old vocalist hinted at her rendition of the 1981 classic “Bette Davis Eyes” by Kim Carnes, following a favorable reaction after singing it live on stage during a performance.

During the rendition, she altered the lyrics to make it a tribute to her boyfriend Chris Hughes.

In my latest social media post, I drew inspiration from a legendary Hollywood figure, channeling her timeless elegance through a 1930s-evoking ensemble. I sported a striking blonde wig, a pearl necklace that sparkled with sophistication, and a frilly blue crop top that captured the spirit of the era.

But some fans were recoiled by the 180-degree change in the former Dance Moms star’s appearance. 

Three months ago, she had a distinctly different appearance. Now, having recently come out as queer, she was previously known as a lesbian.

One individual posted that they never imagined the time would come when JoJo Siwa finds a partner and settles down as a traditional housewife.”

This version maintains the original meaning while using simpler language to make it more accessible for readers.

The phrase ‘trad wife’ is commonly used as a shorthand for ‘traditional wife,’ and it has grown in popularity on the internet, particularly in social media posts by women such as Nara Smith, who advocate for women adopting traditional homemaker roles within their families.

The pop star is being criticized for giving the impression that she’s rolling back progress by suggesting to some men that they can change women’s sexual orientation, which is problematic and harmful.

A different individual added their thoughts, saying, ‘With utmost sincerity, JoJo Siwa exemplifies the increasing trend towards traditional values.’

Additionally, mention was made of her 2024 single “Karma,” which featured an explicit, seductive music video with two women.

A fan wrote on the app formerly known as Twitter, ‘The concept of going from Karma to this…’ 

And someone else chimed in, ‘We don’t care about this queerbaiter lol.’

However, certain fans rallied to support the entertainer, with a social media user @aidan7501 commenting, ‘She deliberately distances herself from the pop girls and that’s what makes her stand out as the most intriguing among them. She’s genuinely doing something unique.’

During her participation in the 24th season of Celebrity Big Brother UK, JoJo expressed, ‘I’ve always identified as a lesbian, but my time here has made me understand, “Uh-oh, I’m not just a lesbian, I’m queer.” I find that quite fascinating. I guess I’m changing labels.’

In conversation with Us Weekly later on, the TV personality expressed her belief that the remark would not air on television.

She shared that the discussion we were having seemed unlikely to be made public. However, she’s glad it was, as it initiated a captivating dialogue on queer topics. In her opinion, the radiance of queer happiness is extraordinary and enchanting, which was what she conveyed to the media outlet.

She went on to reject putting her sexuality ‘in a box.’

‘Queer is a beautiful umbrella term for the LGBTQIA community,’ Siwa emphasized.

Prior to starting her romantic involvement with Hughes, JoJo had a short-lived relationship with Kath Ebbs, an Australian content creator who identifies as non-binary.

JoJo pointed out, “It seems contradictory to identify as a woman with a non-binary partner, while also labeling myself as a lesbian.

‘I’ve come to understand that my perspective on the world feels distinctively queer, and this is simply an aspect of who I am. This realization isn’t tied to anything else, and it’s something I’m comfortable with. However, society seems to be particularly tumultuous about this topic, leaving me in a state of bewilderment.’
