Johnny Vegas’s Secret Life: Real Name Exposed, Surprise Career Move & Shock Diagnosis

It has been revealed that the name of comedian Johnny Vegas is no longer a secret as he continues to publicize his surprising new profession.

At age 54, Johnny is primarily recognized as a successful stand-up comedian, but he’s recently ventured into uncharted territories by becoming both a sculptor and the proprietor of an antique store.

While promoting his new venture, Johnny referenced his birth-given moniker in a new interview.

To the astonishment of many fans, it turns out that the person they’ve always known as his stage name is, in fact, Michael Joseph Pennington in real life.

In conversation with Loaded, he labeled Johnny as his “twin self,” admitting that, like Michael, he tends to be more reserved by temperament. However, he shared that through his artistic endeavors, he is delving deeper into this less timid aspect of his personality.

He described himself as the man behind the scenes, handling public relations and managing any issues, while his stage personality was different.

‘So now, I’m starting to see more of Michael and getting back into my art.’

The stand-up legend also spoke finding out he has ADHD has influenced his successful career.

Individuals dealing with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) might struggle with maintaining focus on tasks, keeping their work steady, giving undivided attention to others, and recalling duties and responsibilities.

Talking about his diagnosis two years back at the age of 52, Johnny was inquired if he believes his stage character would persist without his ADHD.

He responded by saying, “He likely would have done so, given that he hails from a distinct background, he tended to be more of a defensive strategy,” highlighting the contrasts between Johnny and Michael.

On the other hand, he pointed out that it has surprisingly benefited his artistic work. He explained, “While ADHD can present challenges in areas like decision-making, time management, and some anxieties, it also offers unique advantages.

‘It functions brilliantly when paired with art since you’re always brimming with creative thoughts. It’s similar to capturing butterflies, wondering which one I’ll capture next.’

Johnny, having earned a BA in Art and Ceramics from Middlesex University, has once again taken up his long-cherished passion for art.

In the year 2023, Johnny unveiled his first art exhibition, featuring his sculptures and ceramic creations. Now, he’s venturing into a different field by opening a vintage store called “Vintage Vegas” as part of a new television program.

In July, a series called “Johnny Vegas’ Little Shop of Antiques” is scheduled to be broadcast. This program chronicles Johnny’s journey as he expands his antique collection.

Attempting to generate sufficient revenue, he aims to transform his latest store into a lasting enterprise, thus showcasing an entirely novel aspect of his personality.

On the 10th of May, Saturday, Johnny launched his store, Dagfields Crafts and Antiques, and he’s been actively sharing updates about this new business endeavor through Instagram.

In his latest video, he playfully said, ‘I sure hope I’ll see you there! It’s about as diverse and unique an event as you can find.’

In the vibrant world of art, I took my first steps into the limelight after joining forces with the esteemed sculptor, Emma Rodgers. My debut exhibition graced the walls of Jersey’s renowned gallery, Private and Public, in the sun-kissed month of August 2023, marking a significant milestone in my artistic journey.

More recently, his ceramics were auctioned off for charity at Christie’s during London Craft Week, with the artist’s name being unveiled only following the event.

He playfully mentioned on Instagram that he can’t reveal his artwork because it’s a secret collection of 100 ceramic pieces, each contributed by different artists.

‘It isn’t until a work of art is purchased that its creator’s identity becomes known. Every piece goes for a predetermined cost.’
