The Hollywood Vampires, a rock band featuring Johnny Depp, Alice Cooper, and Joe Perry, are facing a lawsuit from a concert promoter because a planned 2023 European performance was canceled.
Johnny Depp, Alice Cooper, and Joe Perry of Aerosmith are being mentioned in a legal document filed in Texas related to a concert that was canceled in July 2023.
According to TMZ, which examined legal documents, the concert was planned for Olympic Fields in Slovakia, the location of the event promoter’s headquarters. The rock band’s lawyers are now requesting that the court dismiss the case.
As a seasoned event planner, I often handle large payments to performers. In this particular case, I submitted documentation to the court showing that my company fronted the rock band $277,000 as an advance for their show. It’s standard practice, but we wanted to be clear about the financial commitment we made to secure their performance.
He said he has asked for the money back from the band, but not received any response on that front.
The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Johnny Depp and his band, the Hollywood Vampires, for additional information regarding this story.
The lawyers representing the defendant have asked the court to dismiss the case. They argue that Texas doesn’t have the authority to hear it, as there’s no valid legal basis for the lawsuit to be filed there.
The band abruptly canceled their show, the promoter said, pointing out problems with the location.
According to a source familiar with the case, the legal battle primarily revolved around a safety issue that occurred at the location more than two and a half years ago.
I’ve been following this closely, and a source told the Daily Mail that the show was cancelled because the venue simply wasn’t safe. Apparently, it was a group decision made that night, and the issues actually go back over two years! It’s really concerning to hear about these long-standing problems.
According to a court document, the concert promoter stated the band cancelled the performance due to private matters, and not because of anything wrong with the concert venue.
According to legal documents, the concert promoter mentioned that Depp was hospitalized for a medical problem they didn’t specify.
The band’s canceling led the promoter to lose ‘money and [look] unreliable in the industry.’
When the band’s Slovakia show was canceled, they posted on Instagram hinting at safety concerns.
The band announced on July 20, 2023, that when they arrived in Slovakia today to prepare for tonight’s show, they discovered the venue was still under construction and unsafe for both them and the audience.
The band expressed their disappointment with what happened and said they hope to be back when their schedules allow.
The band said that the ‘cancelation [was] unrelated to the recent cancelation in Budapest.’
The band is heading back to Europe this summer for a series of concerts, their first performances in almost three years.
The group anticipates amazing audiences, a lively atmosphere, and many more memorable performances, according to a recent statement.
This band, created in 2015, often plays covers and tributes to classic artists like The Who, Led Zeppelin, and Motörhead during their performances.
